St. Luke Anglican Catholic Church

About our Worship
Before the service. Many Anglicans kneel quietly in a private prayer of preparation. Before the service an acolyte lights the candles on the altar to remind us that Christ is the Light of the world. It is customary to keep silence after this.
During the service. We use two books, the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and the 1940 Hymanal. A Bible is also available in the pews. The people are a congregation not an audience. Our service is one of participation not just observation. We ususally stand to praise, sit to learn and kneel to pray, but visitors are free to do whatever is comfortable. Visitors are not singled out or asked to come forward to introduce themselves.
Communion. Anyone who has been baptized and confirmed or christmated by a bishop in Apostolic Succession is welcome to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. If unsure, one may come to the altar rail with the communicants and receive a blessing (crossing arms over chest) or remain in the pew.
After the service. Some may kneel in the pew for a time in private prayer or quiet reflection. On Sundays we invite all to come and join us for light refreshments and fellowship in our Parish Hall.
