Chasing Waterfalls
Along with a few friends I recently (8/2007) visited Vermont and New Hampshire. While not the purpose of the trip, I added some waterfalls to the GPS in case we had the time to visit any. In the end we visited quite a few of them, well two of us did, the other members of the group started the hikes and quickly gave up on some. The mountain hikes turned out to be some of the highlights of the trip and I highly recommend adding a few waterfalls to your next vacation. Below are a few of the falls that I visited.
Arethusa Falls. This was a 1.4 mile hike, all up hill. Correction, up mountain. I could hear the falls for about 30 minutes before I could see them. Nature has a great way of teasing us. No, I didn't climb to the top.
Moss Glen Falls . This was the most beautiful falls that I saw on the trip. I needed a much wider angle lens to do it justice. I will be back here some day to get a proper picture of this.
Lower Bringham Falls. I came across this fall at dusk. Actually, this is a small part of the total falls, but there wasn't enough light to hike across wet rocks near 40' drop-off.
Buttermilk Falls. This was nearly a drive-by fall. It emptied into a large, clear pool of water like something in a movie.
