MIDI and MP3 Files for Home Study

Please download the desired files to your computer for practice.  MIDI files are small and will download quickly.  MP3 files tend to be large and are best downloaded over high-speed connections like cable or DSL.

  • For Windows, right-click on the file link and select "Save link as…"
  • For Mac, right-click on the file link and select "Download Linked File"

Midi files can be played with Windows Media Player, Apple Quick Time, Real Player, and various other programs.  A recommended player for frequent practice is Sweet Midi Player from Roni Music.  This program allows you to adjust the playback tempo as well as the volume of individual midi channels, thus making it possible to emphasize the part you are studying.  The program can
be downloaded for trial.

General guidelines for MIDI files produced specifically for this page.

  • Unless otherwise noted, files will play back at the tempos indicated in the score.
  • Soprano, alto, tenor, and bass staffs will normally be recorded on midi channels 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively, in case your player can isolate channels.
  • For counting purposes, measures which contain no choral notes will usually be filled with partial accompaniment or solo lines.
