Saul Singer's INTERESTING TIMES: Real war criminals
By SAUL SINGER

Israel has repeatedly claimed it has nothing to hide in Jenin, so why was it so keen on keeping the UN from investigating? The answer lies in the perversion of international humanitarian law, which has ramifications far beyond Israel's own situation.

U.N. Lynching Prelude
Arnold Beichman

Of the 190 countries in the United Nations only one, Israel, has been singled out by a majority of the U.N. membership for extinction. I will document this statement with a catalogue of actions taken by the U.N. in the half-century of the its existence that will demonstrate:

Never Prouder to be an Israeli and a Jew
I was walking down the street in Jerusalem the other day when it suddenly occurred to me in the way those obvious thoughts just pop into one's head out of nowhere, that never, in all my life, have I felt more proud to be an Israeli and to be a Jew.

Passover Massacre - A personal account of the massacre at the Park Hotel.
I actually didn’t want to go to Netanya for the Passover Seder. Even my father and mother-in–law, who live in Netanya, and who invited us to join them at the Park Hotel, where they always stay Passover week, were hesitant following the terrorist slaughter of women and children in another Netanya hotel only two weeks before. There was a high security alert throughout the country, and Netanya’s hotel row was an easy and predictable target, being only several miles away from Arafat-run Kalkilyah.

Myths of the Intifada Yasser Arafat has propagated three myths about the deals he turned down. Now Dennis Ross has set the record straight.
by Fred Barnes
04/25/2002

Palestinian and other apologists for Yasser Arafat have propagated three myths about his failure to reach peace with Israel. And only now--two years after Israeli-Palestinian peace talks collapsed because of Arafat's intransigence--is the truth becoming known. This is mostly thanks to Dennis Ross, the Middle East negotiator for both the first Bush administration and President Clinton.

The U.N.'s Israel Obsession
by David Tell, for the Editors
05/06/2002, Volume 007, Issue 33

In 1948, when the armies of five surrounding Arab dictatorships invaded tiny, newborn Israel--in what the secretary general of the Arab League announced was a "war of extermination" against "the Jews"--the United Nations sat on its ass. And did not send a fact-finding mission.

Using the Sacred as a Political Tool
Sermon by B. F. Spears, Jr.
Pastor, Fort Worth, TX
April 12, 2002

Yasser Arafat got on his cellular phone Thursday and told an Egyptian group meeting in a church in Cairo, "The (Israeli) occupation is going beyond limits, not only against... our children, our women... (but) against our Christian and Muslim sanctuaries." He continued, "The aggression that continues today against the Church of the Nativity... is a crime... We will continue to defend these churches regardless of anybody."

News from Jenin
News photos have been released to indicate the area of destruction in the town of Jenin is small compared to the claims. The photos can be seen on the "Maps of Jenin" web site (also linked above). The bitter destruction, regrettable as it is, is only a few hundred square meters. Rabbi Sheldon Zimmerman, the Executive VP of Birth Right organization sent the following article, verifying it's authenticity. The madness assuredly must stop. As long as it continues, please do not think that the avowed policy of a nation state has stooped to the level of the very people that exterminated half our population. Here it is for your consideration. Rabbi Ballon

As someone who has made a living for over thirty years by taking certain facts and ignoring others in order to create dramatic myths on film, I know propaganda when I see it. When I engage in it as a screenwriter it is to write a movie whose first job is to entertain. What has been coming out of Jenin this last week, however, is posing as unbiased journalism whose first obligation is to seek out and report the truth. In some instances the reports have been no less a fiction than what I write for a living.

As long as we live, I want us to always remember tonight - a night we stand shoulder to shoulder, people of different faiths and backgrounds, in unity, as one people with one destiny, to proudly proclaim to our Community and to our State and to our Nation and to the World - Am Yisrael Chai - Israel Lives - Now and Forever.

Israel on the Edge: Fighting despair, Arabs, and the enmity of the world.
by Paul Johnson - National Review
April 24, 2002

In the current Arab-Israeli crisis, the Israelis appear to have forfeited the sympathy of much of the civilized world. Why is this? And what can Israel, and its allies, do about it?

Endangered Species: The Jewish Dove Groups holding out for peace try to counteract a growing image of American Jews as pro-Sharon -- and, increasingly, pro-Bush:

by Anthony York - Salon
April 25, 2002

Jewish doves have a dilemma: How do you articulate a vision of peace and security for Israel while anti-Semitism is growing across the world and as American Jews increasingly back Ariel Sharon's hard-line Israeli government?

What Parents Can Tell Children About Matsav:
Yom Ha-Atzmaut Milken Community Center
April 16, 2002
Rabbi Ed Feinstein

I want to talk to the children tonight. Because I'm concerned for your souls and your faith. You've heard that we are aggressors -- savagely invading, occupying, oppressing a sovereign people. You've heard we have brutally destroyed their cities and towns, their homes and shops, desecrating holy places, turning once-thriving centers of life into fields of destruction and death. You've heard that we have committed atrocity; that we have massacred hundreds of innocents, bull-dozed living people into rubble, shot pregnant women and little children, halted ambulences from attending to the wounded.

New Yorker Magazine Commentary:
COMMENT: TWO STATES by Nicholas Lemann
The New Yorker Magazine: Issue of 2002-04-22 and 2002-04-29
Posted 2002-04-15

Like any great tragedy, the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians is full of smaller sadnesses. One of these is that, as the Israeli tanks have rolled through the West Bank, discussion of the conflict has begun to take the form of horror stories about whichever side is the enemy: the orders placed for explosives, the crushed houses and cars, the baby stillborn at a checkpoint, the bombers blown up on the way to kill more people. This is not yet an all-out war—in all-out wars, we should remind ourselves before completely giving in to despair, many more people die than have died in Israel and Palestine since the second Intifada began—but it is close enough to produce the pattern of thinking that leads to wars, the mutual conviction that the other side has moved morally beyond the pale.
