Purpose

The purpose of the Temple B'nai Sholom Sisterhood is to foster and further the highest ideals of Judaism as expressed through the Synagogue. It is our own purpose to promote close fellowship among our membership and, in cooperation with the congregation, mentor religious, social and educational activities.

Women of Reform Judaism

Temple B'nai Sholom Sisterhood is affiliated with the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). WRJ is the voice, presence and arena of action for the women of Reform Judaism in the Synagogue, the Jewish community, interfaith groups and the general local, national and international communities. WRJ is the women's agency and affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) - the central body of Reform Judaism in North America. WRJ is a member of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) and works on behalf of the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion.

Temple B'nai Sholom is well represented with the WRJ. Our own Barbara Lapidus will serve on the Board of Directors. She will be elected to a four year term at the 44th Sisterhood Assembly in Minneapolis this November.

Funds

The Helen and Henry Solomonson Campership Fund is a fund to help defray expenses for children to attend Jewish summer camp. Applications for scholarships may be submitted in care of the Chairperson.

The Ethel McAnally Memorial Fund is maintained for enhancement and improvement of Temple B'nai Sholom. Proposals for application of fund monies may be submitted in writing to Treasurer Sheryl Thomason.

Donations to these funds, as well as the Sisterhood General Fund are greatly appreciated.
[Please contact the Sisterhood Treasurer or the Temple office and specify "Sisterhood" and the desired fund.]
