The USS YAMATO's original crew was formed from the crews of the USS HOOD (lost in battle) and the USS MELBOURNE (placed in New Australian reserve fleet).
Episode 1: Trouble on Timmon's World
Her maiden voyage, the USS YAMATO was dispatched to the Timmon's World colony to investigate a rash of mysterious disappearances of colonists. The disappearances were complicated by a natural tendency of the planet's surface to scramble sensor readings.
During the super-calibrated sensor scans and extensive ground search, Lt. Trisx, the Chief Security Officer was kidnapped from the Governor-General's Mansion. Search and Rescue teams finally tracked down both Trisx and the missing colonists in the secret underground base of a group calling itself "The Order." "The Order," radical naturalists who seemed to also disavow identity and specific gender types, lead by one called Davis, wanted to 'return the planet to the nature.' They claimed that the ruling government of Timmon's World was corrupting the environment.
Later, it was discovered that the Order members had previously come into contact with the Dracae, a telepathic race of "water spirits" that originally inhabited the planet, living deep below the surface in underground caverns. And unfortunate side effect of contact with the Drace brings average Terrans a sense of euphoria, and the awareness that the colony is polluting the planet. And even more unfortunate side effect is that most then react on this feeling to radical extremes.
A crack team of troops used the opportunity to strike at the Governor's mansion, even as the rescue teams were affecting entry into their own lair. In a surprise move, they took the local heads of state, as well as Captain Tripoli, LT Wolfe and LT Blade hostage. During the battle, several marines were killed and LT Wolfe was severely injured.
Declaring the action as "hostile against the Federation," LCMR Connor instituted a state of martial law and took Davis and his followers into custody as prisoners of war.
Meanwhile, LCMR Mara & LT Stephens, having made contact with the Darcae, developed a de-influencer to counteract the effects of contact with the Dracae.
In the confusion, Tripoli, Blade and Wolfe managed to orchestrate an escape. The Order troops were captured, Davis surrendered, and all were turned over to the Timmon's World government. The Governor-General and the Chief Commissioner both resigned, with the Governor-General's Aide being selected as the new leader of the colony. All but a few of the Order's members were returned to normal, and granted pardons for their roles. The missing colonists, including the Chief Commissioner's daughter were returned to their families. And the new government began open contact with the Dracae, attempting to save their environment.
Upon the YAMATO's return to Star Base OMEGA, CAPT Tripoli was relieved by CAPT Stern and transferred back to Earth.
Episode 2: Scouting Tabillin
With the destruction of the USS LEXINGTON by a Dalriadan cruiser tensions are running high along the border. SB OMEGA looses contact with the Federation outpost on Tabillin. The USS YAMATO is dispatched to investigate. The mission is complicated by a nebula that surrounds the Tabillin system. The nebula impeeds communications and sensor function.
The YAMATO enters the system via one of the corridors of clear space that penetrate the nebula. When the YAMATO is not hailed by the patrol ships assigned to the outpost, suspicions of Dalriadan activity are raised. The YAMATO launches two probes that initially detect a debris field near Tabillin, and then detect three Dalriadan ships lying in wait for the YAMATO.
The YAMATO turns and leaves the system with the Dalriadan ships in pursuit. She goes to warp once clear of the system. Surprisingly, the Dalriadan ships do not pursue her. CAPT Stern reports to ADM Brooks that the Tabillin system was indeed invaded, the forst overtly hostile acts of a rapidly expanding war.
Episode 3: A Target Rich Environment
The USS YAMATO is given a special mission and an equally special tool with which to perform it. The YAMATO is charged with scouting the Burrakis system to determine the Dalriadan presence there. The YAMATO is selected because both CAPT Stern and LT D'artgnan had been on the PROMETHEUS when she discovered the legendary, loat planet of Burrakis. In order to make the scouting mission possible, a D-warp shuttle delivers the phase cloaking device that had been installed on the HOOD.
LT Wolfe installed the cloaking device, and using his experience from the HOOD made significant improvements. The YAMATO entered the system and performed a survey of the Dalriadan presence. In addition, they took advantage of the phase cloak capabilities and cruised through a Dalriadan cruiser just before it left the system using a D-warp drive.
Using the information gathered during their survey of the cruiser, CMDR Connor, LT D'artgnan and LT Stephens were able to develop a strategy for attacking the Dalriadan picket ships stationed in the outer fringes of the system. Using the attack sequence developed, they were able to attack and destroy a Dalriadan frigate and destroyer.
The opportunity then presented itself to attack a Dalriadan cruiser as it left the system. CAPT Stern decided that the opportunity represented an acceptable risk. The YAMATO attacked the cruiser as it entered hyperspace. The target of the attack was one of the ship's D-warp nodes. When it was destroyed, the asymmetry in the hyperspatial field was enough to rip the Dalriadan ship apart. The YAMATO was damaged in the attack by a subspace compression wave, and returned to SB OMEGA.
Episode 4: The Battle of Starbase OMEGA
The YAMATO crew completes hasy repairs to the ship and returns to the defensive perimeter just as the Dalriada begin their assualt on OMEGA. The Dalriada open several large wormholes through which their warships pass. The YAMATO destroys one of their ships as it exits the wormhole. From there the battle rages between the YAMATO and the ships of **** and their Dalriadan adversaries.
Episode 5: From the Past
While on a routine patrol of the newly agreed upon Federation/Dalriadan border, the YAMATO detects a ship adrift in space. CAPT Isaac Stern orders the ship closer and the crew determines that the vessel is an old Dalriadan sleeper ship.
CMDR Alex Connor leads an away team to investigate the ship. LT Cassandra Stephens and ENS Leo Jones are attacked by several of the newly awakened Dalriada and Jones is wounded. He is beamed to sickbay along with the subdued Dalriada.
The leader of the Dalriada claims to be the Warden of a penal colony the sleeper ship was going to establish.
