Prayer Shawl Ministry

JOY Sisters is starting a Prayer Shawl Ministry as one of our local missions projects. The purpose of this ministry is to create prayer shawls (knitted, crocheted, quilted, fleece, etc.) to be distributed to those in spiritual need so they can wrap themselves in God's love and experience His comfort.

JOY Sisters will sponsor a monthly stitch-along where everyone is welcome to gather with us and work on a prayer shawl project. As a shawl is being created, the stitcher will pray for the intended recipient of the prayer shawl, known or unknown. A tag will be attached to each completed shawl, letting the person know they are special to God and that they have been prayed for specifically while the shawl was being created.

JOY Sisters is asking our church family to help us with this endeavor. Here are some of the ways you can help:

· Knit or crochet a prayer shawl at home (we will provide pattern)
· Join us at a stitch-along to work on a prayer shawl
· Donate money for the purchase of yarn
· Donate 3 skeins of Lion Brand Homespun yarn in a color of your choice (yarn can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's)
· Tell us of someone in spiritual need who could use the comfort of a prayer shawl as a physical reminder of being wrapped in God's love

CareWear Ministry

Please join us in helping babies in Huntsville Hospital’s NICU by creating handmade items (sewn, knitted, crocheted), stitched with God’s love.

Items Needed:

Premie and full-term kimonos/sleepers

Blankets/quilts

Diaper shirts

Burial gowns

Hats

Toys
