The first sealed entry after concluded apprenticeship attests—with debatable orthography—that “This equivalent current journeyman potter with the name Johann Schmit has worked two full years and during this time behaved faithfully and diligently.  Signature Neuarad, the 2nd of April 1850.  Joseph Gruber.”

Senior master Johann Nüssel writes with a sharp goose-quill on the 12th page of the travel book: “This equivalent current journeyman potter with the name Johann Schmid has worked for 22 weeks with Ferdinand Mershug Merschug and during this time has behaved faithfully dutiful.

Here, master potter Karl Türkovski certifies for him on the 18th of June 1851 that he “has worked 3 months and during this time acted faithfully and dutifully.”
