MadALwx's Lightning Detection Software/Hardware
I run two software routines: Nexstorm for long-mid range detection, and Lightning 2000 for mid-range and close strike activity. When strike activity is w/in 250mi, I will switch to L2K. Nexstorm is configured to use satellite imagery and L2K is using vector mapping.Lightning strikes are detected by my Boltek LD-250 lightning detector. An antenna tuned to the frequency range of lightning is mounted in my attic. The data is routed to a hardware box for processing and then relayed to my weather computer. Software extracts the data, plots the strikes, and uploads the information to this website.
