On a final note...

The Wesley Middle School Praise Band sensation, Top Hat Fish, closed out the 2008 YX year with a stellar selection of traditional Christmas carols.  Despite a decimated post-exam audience, the band brought big sound to the little stage.  Jacob "I'm no Marley" provided generous, controlled percussion play. Born-again bass player, Danny C, revived his arm-waving, string-jammin', cool hair-flopping, down-right electrifying guitar skills for us.  And Carley Flores, who's never cold, always frosty, seldom shaken, and frequently stirring, was joined on vocals by HH and OKR.  Tonight was Olivia's first time with THF (Top Hat Fish, not, tetra-hydro folate) and it's nice to see the band's membership growing.

The Fish opened the set with a sweet and most excellent 'Gloria in Excelsis Deo'.  If you've never heard angels singing on high, well, perhaps it's because you just never got close enough to one. There are angels in the praise band.

The band chilled for the second song as Carley sang 'What Child is This'.  The solo was beautiful and the Minister accompanied with minimal guitar. The whole band then went back to Fahrschule for a striking, sombering, and soul-searching rendition of Stille Nacht, Heil'ge Nacht.

It was a great evening of seasonal music and hats off to everyone involved in making Top Hat Fish the righteous band they are.

Merry Christmas.
