- "Cleared to land! Weather is CAVU and winds are light and variable."
Welcome to Rocketman's helipad (alias LTC James R. Burch II, USA, Retired) -- home for wayward and broken down aviators.
May you always have clear skies and a tailwind!

- Changed jobs last August, 2001 and now work for Aerodyne Incorporated, an aeronautical engineering firm, as senior systems engineer and chief information officer (CIO). My main external project is as consultant to Program Manager Signal Warfare, Fort Monmouth, NJ on the Army's latest reconnaissance aircraft -- Airborne Common Sensor (ACS). Best of all, while I travel extensively, I get to fly the corporate aircraft -- Beech Baron B58!

- Staying active in the Redstone Flying Club and keeping current in Piper Arrow PA28R200, Cessna 172, 182, and the Socata TB-9. Writing an aircraft scheduling program for the club in Java to enable a web based access -- a real challenge, but very rewarding.

- I completed my mission to Wiesbaden, Germany and Tuzla, Bosnia. I flew the north Atlantic twice flying a C-12 in July and August 2000 with Larry Morgan. On the way over, we stopped at Bangor, Me; Goose Bay, Canada; Reykavik, Iceland; and finally into Weisbaden, Germany. We flew daily for about a month to Ramstein AFB supporting an USAF advance technology demonstration of hyperspectral imaging system.
- On the way back, we stopped in Prestwick, Scotland; Reykavik, Iceland again; Sonderstromfjiord, Greenland; Goose Bay, Canada again; Bangor, Me again; and dropped the mission equipment off at Davison AAF, Fort Belvoir, VA. Finally, we completed our mission by returning to Dothan, AL.
- I only had 3 days at home when I departed via commercial air to Tuzla, Bosnia for a 2 month assignment flying another C-12 with a Multifunctional Airborne Reconnaissance and Surveillance System (MARS). Flew about 160 hrs in those 2 months with several other pilots (Skip Lukas, Jim Burchett, and Larry Morgan along with the mission operators Buck Pennington and Neil Rolfson).
