DOMI was born in Morocco...raised in Casablanca. and Algiers.

From  French colonists in Algeria…  Family moved to the US in early 60's after the Algerian  revolution.……..Lots of family members have been artists…...

In the U.S. moved here and there…...painted since the age of 8...always took lessons  always had paint and supplies in the room….in school studied writing and philosophy…………..started writing ...poetry...very intense….then a couple of novels...then worked as ghostwriter for anna neagoe the painter….nothing ever published…..

In the meantime dropped out of school...worked at countless  jobs...from switchboard operator, mortgage processor for Chase Manhattan, playboy bunny at miami beach club, chicken farmer, bartender, anything to keep going with real work of writing………...until one cold winter in the north of maine with a whole bunch of wood and some sculpting tools…………...and then it was off into three dimensional work….with wood and stone...messy and exciting work for a lot of years.

The sculptures were selling but were time consuming and the returns not sufficient…….so back to two dimensional work……..all the way back to the beginning….years of going backwards and relearning everything--drawing, composition, colors, lines everything……..all sorts of medium …..and then it finally ended with acrylics on canvas because of a suggestion from a gallery owner. 
Since 2001, it's been that…...acrylic on canvas and the name was then at last changed to Domi . 

It has been a very long and exciting journey with a half a dozen or more signatures on countless pieces of wood, marble, paper, canvas...the identity was always the same...the search and twists and turns made the changes necessary.  The journey continues but in one direction………...
