Chili Dinner Fundraiser
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do with the ticket money and
unsold tickets?
There will be an adult volunteer designated
to accept tickets and money. See this
person as soon as you arrive.
What should we wear?
Scouts must be in their Class A uniforms. Adults
with uniforms should wear them. We all
will be representing Troop 350.
How can I be sure I get my slow-cooker
back?
Put your name on tape affixed to your pot or
slow cooker and lid. Leave your spoons and ladles at home.
When should my chili/desserts arrive?
Your chili should arrive as your scout
arrives, ˝ hour before the beginning of his shift. If it is convenient to arrive earlier, that
will be fine. It would be nice if some
from the Dragon patrol made their chili available at the beginning of the
event.
Should my chili arrive hot or cold?
Please do your best to arrive with warm/hot
chili. I’ve been told that cold chili
has presented a problem in the past.
What if people want “seconds”?
The Chili Dinner event is not an all-you-can-eat buffet. People can purchase a second bowl of chili
for $2, or a second dessert for $1. There will be conspicuously-labeled “tip-jars”
to accept payment for second helpings at the serving table (no extra ticket
hassle). We reserve the right to
restrict the availability of seconds based upon available supply.
What will my responsibilities be the day of
the event? Will the Dutch oven patrol
dessert competition interfere with my assigned event responsibilities?
Scout responsibilities will be assigned
after a consultation with the youth leadership (SPL & ASPL). Watch this space for updates.
When should I arrive? When should I leave?
UPDATED: Adult volunteers should plan on
arriving at 3:30PM. If you are leaving the event before we are
finished (and cleaned up) please check with me.
All scouts and chili are expected to arrive a ˝ hour before their
scheduled shift. The youth leadership is
handling that schedule. Check with your
patrol leader. We may request a slightly
earlier arrival time to allow for coordination of tasks.
Can I sell more than 10 tickets?
You are encouraged to sell as many tickets
as you can. You can get more tickets
from Mr. Drury (see contact info below).
What if I don’t sell 10 tickets?
Every scout is asked to make a good-faith
effort to sell at least 10 tickets. $5
for a bowl of chili, beverage and desert is a good deal, especially for a
fundraiser. If you find you are unable
to sell the suggested 10 tickets, please return the unsold tickets the day of
the event.
If I am asked to sell 10 tickets, why was I
issued 12?
·
Groups of
people interested in a chili dinners aren’t always divisible by 10.
·
It’s a
subtle ploy to encourage additional ticket sales.
·
Mr. Drury
didn’t want to change the print format from last time.
I heard their might be live entertainment
from within our Troop. Is this true.
No entertainment acts are booked at this
time.
Will we be able to sell tickets to people
as they leave mass?
We have received permission to sell tickets
outside the church before and after 5:30 mass.
In addition, we will be selling tickets to fans attending two basketball
tournaments in the Gym that day.
