The 2009 Georgia State Big Bore Championship is now history and so is this year’s LRGC match season. Thanks to all of you who were able to support the matches this season, we do appreciate you and hope we have provided a place that you enjoyed shooting at. This year’s State Match exhibited three different days of weather [Georgia weather]; day one (Friday) was HOT and HUMID, really humid; day two (Saturday) was COOL and misting rain and finally day three (Sunday), was SUNNY and a little BREEZY with temperatures in the low 80’s. The weather had little to no affect on the shooters; they came, the saw, they conquered; the scores and turnout was outstanding compared to last year. We had a total of 49 entries and about 10 – 60’s fired by competitors during this match and a rather lively shoot-off in Production, Unlimited and UAS.
Thanks to our outstanding Target Setter [Rick Rayle and this time his wife, Tasha] for keeping us moving all three days; and as usual a thank you goes out to our Co-match Director, J. Melvin Calliham for all his hard work and finally, but not least of all , you.
As some of you are aware, we [Little River Gun Club] agreed to host the 2010 Region 2 Big Bore and Half Scale Championship [Thanks Greg Rhineheimer]; so we will be looking to make some improvements to the range in preparation for this match. We will float a plan to you for comment and suggestions; then we will begin scheduling a couple of Work Days to complete those plans; hopefully well in advance of the match; which is tentatively scheduled for September 3 – 6, 2010 [pending Reg2 Director’s approval].
