The Proclaimers

Gary Shaw - Lead, Dennis Pouncy - Tenor, Pianist, & Composer, and Jean Back - Alto

We pray that we may always serve God wherever He leads us.
We continue to lean on Him for our abilities, strength, and direction.
As the song says, "Without Him, I can do nothing. Without Him, I'd surely fail.
Without Him I would be drifting like a ship without a sail."

About Us

Gary Shaw grew up in the First Baptist Church of Andalusia, Alabama. Though he grew up singing traditional and contemporary, he loves most any style gospel music. Gary graduated from Samford University and attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for several years. He has preached and served as Minister of Music in many churches over the past thirty years. He was Minister of Music at a Revival service when he first met the beautiful Rose Ann Barrow, who became his wife in 1972.

Dennis Pouncy has been in southern gospel music for fifty-two years. He was a member of the Brother's Four, Conquerors, and the original Melody Masters. Dennis has been Minister of Music in many churches in Montgomery, Alabama including the last thirteen years at Memorial Heights Baptist Church. Dennis has won many awards for his accomplishments. One came in 1986 from the Southern Baptist Convention for "Outstanding American." But the greatest thing most people know and love him for are the blessings he gives with his God given talent of song writing.

Jean Back grew up as an only child in Chilton County, Alabama attending Marshill Baptist Church. She was blessed with a gospel singing family and her favorite song as a child was An Empty Mansion. Jean's four children grew up in Center HIll Baptist church where she served as pianist, secretary, and any other job she was asked to do within the church. Jean now has ten beautiful grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
