About Jack Coneby
Originally from Ohio, Jack Coneby has lived in Florida for the past twenty years. He is now a resident of Dunedin. Jack studied the basic theories of art at Ohio State University and the Columbus College of Art and Design. However, he has accomplished his current technique of realism on his own by years of practice and experimentation. At first, his Ohio showing consisted of mostly oil, graphics and watercolors, but now he feels comfortable working mainly with watercolors. He likes to use the term ‘soft realism’ when describing his work. His latest subject matter has been memorable scenes from central Ohio where he lived – landscapes and natural wood showing textures and details. Now that he has settled in this area, he plans to explore the many beautiful scenes of nature Florida has to offer.
Jack finds it challenging to take a plain flat sheet of paper and try to make it come alive with a 3-dimensional feeling and a natural atmosphere.
The best advice Jack would give a new artist would be to “paint what you know”. He seems to have a personal involvement and love for nature and outdoor scenes. Young Dove is the latest published limited edition print. Please see the Photo page.
