Stock alternator specs:

Sol S and Si = 70 Amps

Sol VTEC = 80 Amps

GSR = 90 Amps

You can put a B series alternator on a D series engine. You have to tap the adjustment bolt hole and make the adjusting bracket groove a little wider. Took like 15 minutes with a Dremel. Make sure you buy the same OBD one so the wiring will match. FYI buying a lifetime warranty GSR one at a parts store is your best bet.

Do I need a hi-amp alternator?

If you want to see how many amps you are using, take your car to auto zone, or whatever parts store, and have them, " check your charging system ". They have a machine that tells how many amps you are pulling. First, do it with everything off. Then turn on the a/c (fan on high), stereo, and headlights. See what the difference is. It will let you know what you need. The same can be done with a good multi-meter, but everyone doesn't have one and the parts store will do it for free. Just make sure you check it at idle and at 3000 rpm or so.

Cut off both of your old hoses and leave them on the engine side to make them the right size to fit the larger VTEC hoses.

How do I install the Civic front lip on my Del Sol?

It is not a direct fit. You have to drill holes and use screws to attach it.

What about a factory power antenna?

Yes Honda made one. It is very easy to install, but kind of expensive.

What shift linkage do I need for a B series swap? Where do I get one?

The Del Sol VTEC shift linkage is what you need. It’s pretty hard to come by unless you know someone. Buy it new if you don’t want to search forever for one. BEWARE people will sell you the wrong one, so be careful, or buy new.

You will also need the hardware on the tranny side of the linkage (bushing, washer, and bolt). The shifter and other hardware from your S or Si will work.

What do I need to do to keep my A/C when doing a B series swap?

Just get the Del Sol VTEC A/C bracket. Your compressor will bolt up to it. The Integra one will work to swap the engine, but you cannot bolt the compressor to it.

What other mounts do I need?

Depends on your current engine and the engine you are putting in.

Generally the D16Z6 mounts will all work except the A/C mount and the rear tranny mount. The D15, and maybe later D16, mounts of the S differ from the D16Z6 only on the upper drivers side. The Integra mounts are pretty easy to come by used and will work.

Will I need to change the throttle cable?

I did. It looked the same when I got it, so you may not need to. If you know for sure please let me know.

What parts of the Del Sol Interior were changed to black? When?

Everything below the windows was changed to black in the 96-97 (?) sols.

P/N needed for door handles and rear speaker panels. The rest should be easy to make black with some vinyl dye.

What axels do I need for a swap?

You will need B series axels. You will also need the intermediate shaft. B-series axels include 92 and up Integra, 99-2000 civic Si, and Del Sol VTEC. Make sure you get a manual intermediate shaft if you have a manual transmission. The axels can be bought used, or new from a parts store with a lifetime warranty. Some have even given the D series ones back as cores.
