A Saucerful of Outtakes -
Comment from a fan:
Just an amazing array of tunes rarely heard anywhere. Our local "Classic
Rock" station
boasts of playing the rarest tunes of the 60's - 70's. What a joke! Every
Pink Floyd song they play is just the burnt out standard everyone's heard a
million times. (Comfortably Numb, Money etc) Nothing against Floyd, they are
without a doubt one of the best but fans deserve more.
If you get a chance to listen to "Saucerful" don't hesitate,
grab this disk.

BBC Archives 1970-1971
(2CD) - The
BBC proudly presents "The
Pink Floyd"!
Comment from a fan: This is a stellar archival joyride as only the
BBC could produce. Clear, concise and full of sonic fury.
David Gilmore paints a masterful picture with his overdriven guitar licks as
Roger Waters keeps the bottom end tight and sweet. "Fat Old Sun" kicks ass!
13 tracks on 2 disks
Hyde Park Concert (July
18, 1970 Blackhills
Garden Party) -
The lost tape from Floyd's July 18th, 1970 Hyde Park concert. A masterful find and
historic venue. Overall the sound quality is very good considering the
technology of the day and mother nature's whipping wind.
Tracks:
1. Blues..2. The Embryo..3. Green Is The Colour..4. Careful With That Axe,
Eugene..5. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun..
It's Warm In Tampa (Sound-Check)
- An unusual treat for fans, a sound-check captured via the soundboard hours
before the gig was to begin. Clear, crisp and full of positive vibes.
Several songs are incomplete but it's a fun listen as the band is clearly
having fun with the rehearsals. Gilmour plays with some of the lyrics.
("Shine On You Crazy Bastard".)
Tracks: 1. Shine On You Crazy Bastard,
2. High Hopes, 3. Breathe In the Air, 4. Time, 5. The Great Gig in the Sky,
6. Loss For Words,
7. Wish You Were Here, 8. Money, 9. Us and Them..
Live in Montreux
(The Good, The Bad) -
A forgotten but recently unearthed show from Floyd's 2nd night at the historic
Altes Casino Montreux, Switzerland
on November 22, 1970.
Story is, the first night was mediocre affair and not up to the
standards of broadcast execs so, once the technical difficulties were worked
out - the 2nd night was professionally captured and shelved for a later
release date. Unfortunately, Pink Floyd fans have been waiting ever since.
Disk 1: 1. Announcer, 2.
Astronomy Domine, 3. Fat Old Sun, 4. Cymbaline, 5. Green Is The Colour, 6.
Careful With That Axe, Eugene, 7. Set The Controls For The Heart of The
Sun...
Disk 2:
1. Atom Heart Mother, 2. Embryo, 3. Green Is The colour, 4. Careful With
That Axe, Eugene..
Meddled
(1971)
- Here is one of the most acclaimed Floyd
disks that one can have, Meddled 1971.
Recorded live at The Paris Cinema, London, England and captured direct from
an FM broadcast over the BBC in England on
September 30, 1971. The stereo dimension adds a world of difference to the
recordings that you can distinctly hear what each
band member is doing. This is an amazing show that is just a small glimpse
of the things to come.
Tracks:
1. Fat Old Sun..2. One Of These Days..3. Echoes..4. Embryo..5. Blues..
Short
but oh
so sweet!
Pie In The Sky
(2CD) - A
1972 audience capture of Pink Floyd as they perform material from the then
unreleased Dark Side of the Moon album. It's all that any fan could
want and more. This title was recently made available from an unknown
publisher but word has it that it comes from the (in) famous Herald label from somewhere over the
rainbow fame. Overall, it's a nice representation of Pink Floyd's
greatness
as musical icons.
Tracks: Disk 1;
01 Speak To Me 2:23, 02 Breathe 3:17, 03 On The Run 5:17...The Travel
Sequence, 04 Time / Breathe (Reprise) 7:01,
05 The Great Gig In The Sky 3:48...The Mortality Sequence, 06 Money 7:32, 07
Us And Them 7:09, 08 Any Colour You Like 6:23,
09 Brain Damage 3:52, 10 Eclipse 2:11..
Disk: 2
01 One Of These Days 8:58, 02 Careful With That Axe, Eugene 12:25, 03 Echoes
23:44, 04 Set The Controls 13:36..
Pre-release Dark Side of The Moon (includes
Bonus Tracks) (2CD) -
Similar title to Pie in the Sky but with 2 rarely performed tracks
that the Floyd only performed a handful of times in their career.(Childhoods
End and Blues). Also, the audience is overly enthusiastic
especially in the very beginning of disk 1 and thru-out the entire set. Review: I just gave both a listen and
can't decide which one I like the best?
Where Pie blows me away - Pre-release has that something extra that is hard
to pin point. I give em both a thumbs up. Thanks a bunch.
Rome
(May 6, 1968)
- A phenomenal disk sourced from the First European International Pop
Festival, Piper Club, Rome, Italy.
May 6th, 1968. Intermixed between the
tracks are the announcements from both the Italian and Dutch
representatives. The whole disks gives an aura of pure 1960's psychedelia.
This is a pleasurable trip back in time. 1. Italian announcer, 2. Astronomy
Domine, 3. Roger Waters Interview, 4. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The
Sun, 5. Interstellar Overdrive..

Syd Barrett
Olympia Exhibition Hall
(June 6, 1970)
- Though this title is relatively short in
comparison to Syd's Pnk Floyd output,
it is significant in that this is one of the very last performances of Syd's
career. Those who witnessed the event claim it was indeed a strange and sad
affair. The gig was tight and the members jelled as a band but halfway
through Octopus,
Syd simply walks offstage and doesn't return. Tracks:
1. Terrapin, 2. Gigolo Aunt, 3. Effervescing Elephant, 4. Octopus..
Syd Barrett -
guitar, vocals; David Gilmour - bass; Jerry Shirley - drums.
Opel
-
A collection of previously un-released
Barrett
recordings considered by many fans as his finest to date.
Unfortunately, Syd was never able to
finish many tunes "still in the can" before his untimely passing. The
majority of these
songs were recorded during sessions for 'The Madcap
Laughs' and 'Barrett'.
Recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
The Peel Sessions
(February 24, 1970)
- In February 1970, Syd Barrett performed five songs for John Peel's show on
the BBC, accompanied by Jerry Shirley on drums and Dave Gilmour on guitar.
Besides reprising "Terrapin" from his first album, the session featured
three of the strongest tunes from his second LP, "Gigolo Aunt," "Baby
Lemonade," and "Effervescing Elephant." though, very brief. This five-song
EP includes the easygoing "Two of a Kind," which doesn't appear on any other
release.
