BYROMI'm looking for information on my husbands great-grandfathers' family. His name is John William BYROM b. about 1845 in Franklin County, TN and came from Moore county after the counties were split to form Moore county. He served in the 28th Tenn. Infantry in the Civil War and after the war he married Elizabeth Katherine LEWIS June 13,1868. I'm trying to find out what Johns parents names were and any brothers and sisters he may have had. We know of one brother his name was Jim and his intials were J.R. we think.

SMITH, TATUM, STAPLESI am looking for information on William SMITH and Sarah TATUM.
William SMITH was born approx 1831 and Sarah TATUM approx 1836. He
is listed as a cabinatemaker in Lynchburg on a daughter's delayed
birth certificate (from Alabama) and she is listed as a housekeeper.
The daughter (Minnie SMITH STAPLES m. Milus STAPLES) later moved to
north Alabama. Daughter Minnie was born Sept 30, 1856. Any
information greatly appreciated.
JACOB SHASTEENMy ancestor is shown in the list of Civil War soldiers from Moore
County. I would like info anyone might have on Jacob SHASTEEN. I have also been
told that there is a SHASTEEN family cemetery in either Moore or
Franklin counties.
SIMPSONGeorge SIMPSON is listed in the 1930 Census for Franklin County. The
area where they lived later became part of Moore County. George was
born in the 1760s in South Carolina and later lived in Oglethorpe
County GA before moving to Tennessee in 1813/14. Does anyone have
any information about where I might locate a copy of George's will?
He is related to Malachi and Rice Simpson, brothers who settled in
the Lost Creek/Elk River area in the 1813.
JOHNSON, CASTEELElvin Mathis Johnson (b. c. 1835) was married for 1 year to Mary
Frances Casteel when they appeared in the 1880 census for Moore Co.,
TN. But he had 2 sons from a previous marriage Elijah (b. c. 1874)
and William (b. c. 1876). Does anybody recognize this family? Or
know the name of the mother of Elijah and William?
CUNNINGHAM, GOREI am trying to find the parents of Jane M. CUNNINGHAM. She married
John E. GORE 2 September 1849. Jane was born in Tennessee 1 Jun 1828,
and died 8 September 1899. She is buried in the County Line Cemetery.
She was a resident of the Lynchburg area her entire life. Her
children include: Elizabeth, William, Thomas, Franklin, Rebecca,
Robert, and Joshua. Any help on this family would be greatly
appreciated
GOBBLE, GOBBELJacob Calvin GOBBLE or GOBBEL is listed I'm told in the 1880 Moore
Co. census. He is living in the household of R.W. GRAY and wife Jane
in the Chestnut Ridge area. It states that he is hired to farm. Also
listed after Jacob Calvin is B. WOMACK, wife in the house. I assume
this is Jacob Calvin's wife. I know that Jacob Calvin married
Tabitha THOMPSON in Lincoln County on 8/8/1845 and they had children
Robert and Peggy GOBBLE. Can anyone do a marriage look-up for me in
Moore Co. for Jacob Calvin GOBBLE and B.WOMACK prior to 1880? Any
info for the names mentioned would be appreciated.

Moore Co. on the 1900 census but they were in Giles Co. on the 1910
and 1920 census although William A. died in 1919. William, Susannah,
George, Minnie and Leon are buried in the Minor Hill Cem. In Giles

Carolina and died after 1882 and buried in the Lynchburg Cemetery. He
married Margaret Taylor in 1858 and had the following children, Betty F.
who married Dr. J. C. Franklin of Nashville, Eliza B., William T.,
Nannie B., and H. Carrie. He operated a hotel in Lynchburg and moved to
Nashville at one time. He may have been involved in political offices at
Nashville. I am interested in any photo's, list of descendants and his
activities in manufacture of veterinary medicines and Confederate
reunions. He was a captain in Company E, of the First Tennessee
Infantry CSA.
