In 1840, my g-g-g-grandmother brought her seven adult children, five grandchildren, a son-in-law, and at least 11 slaves to Independence County AR. I am writing an article on the family for the local historical quarterly, and it occurred to me that the move was a very large one. I haven't been able to find any events in Haywood County that might have precipitated such a move--drought, disease, political unrest, etc. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

DOUGLAS, Ellen (maiden name). BARKLEY, Ellen (married name). Born Sept. 18, 1888 in Hamilton County, TX, died August 12, 1919 in Fort Worth, TX but buried in Tennessee, unsure where. Spouse was James Clinton BARKLEY and son's name was James Clinton "Pete" BARKLEY. She died in childbirth in Fort Worth. Parents names were James Prate DOUGLAS and Sarah Ann SCOTT. She had 6 siblings: Jess, Hence, Annie Amanda, Maggie & George.

I am looking for information on Dora m Rutherford, born in Tennessee about 1897, she married
Jas or Joseph Hubbs at the age of 16 in Tennessee. I believe he was originally from
Kentucky. They later
migrated to Horace, or Tribune, Kansas. I am their granddaughter, They
had five living children who were Rosetta, John, Robert, Jack, and Blanch. Any information on either

am trying to locate information about my GGreat Grandparents.
My
Great Grandfather's name was William Stanford Spencer who was in Tennessee about
11/17/1867 and died in Ohio. He married a Margaret Ruth
Gable in 1896. I have the names of a Rosella and Hannah
Dill/Gilliland who may possibly be the family names. Sorry, but I have no idea
of any particular county.

Seeking a burial location for James R. Brown of Lynchburg. Per loose Moore County records, he died in Moore County on 3/21/1899. My guess is that he is buried in the Lynchburg Cemetery but need confirmation.
Are there interment records for the cemetery which would include unmarked graves.

John M. DALE (1863- abt. 1900} I have an 1880
census showing him, wife Elizabeth, and baby James. It shows him born in Tennessee. His father's birthplace is Pennsylvania. Mother's birthplace TN. They were my great grandparents. I have only this info on John. Please help. I have no further info. They had one more son, John T. Dale.
Elizabeth, James and John T. moved to Alabama. No mention of John M. Any info appreciated.

Daughter, Maltila E WOOD, died 1857, Ms. All born in south middle Tn.
As stated believed to be around the area of Lynchburg. Believed to have disposed of land and moved family to west Tn., Weakley County.
He left on a exploring trip to Ill. and was never heard from again.
Believed to be abt. 1825/28. Elizabeth and family returned to middle TN before 1830.

Looking for William Rupert Smith born about 1812 in TN.
He married Elizabeth Beacham 1834 in Lawrence Co, AL.
Their eight sons were named, David Preston, George, John R, William Rupert, Franklin, Dudly, Henry Clay, Anderson H.
It is thought his father was John Smith born between 1770-1790.
If anyone has any of these names in their Smith Family names, maybe we are related.

I am looking for any information on Benton Grace, born in approximately 1888. He is listed on the 1900 census as being born in
1888 in Tennessee, and living with his uncle, Leonard Hall of East Tompkinsville, Monroe, Kentucky. Any information would be helpful.
My great grandma's Bible was lost when my great uncle re-married, and his new wife, who was jealous of his 1st wife, threw it away.

Joseph ANSLEY was in Franklin,Williamson Co, TN in 1820 and 1830 census. Charles ANSLEY (ENSLEY) married Elisabeth THOMPSON in 1830.
Does Joseph have a will? Are there any cemetery records for ANSLEY-ENSLEY?

I am looking for any info on William Jarvis Smith & Nancy Maynard Smith who married 1832 in TN. They had 4 children born in TN: Joshua Franklin b:1833; Lucinda b:1831; Joseph M. b:1834; & James Napoleon b:1837. I'm trying to figure out if my ancestors Samuel Sumner Sr. b. Abt.
1786 in NC and his wife Sarah Jane Clark b. Abt. 1790 in NC were in Tennessee in 1810. I have read that there is very little of the 1810 TN census extant. What other records might be available to show some of the census-type information like proof of residence? There are Sumner family connections with Moore families in Grainger, Claiborne, and possibly Hawkins, TN. I know the Sumners and Mrs. Margaret Clark were in Kentucky by 1820; they are in census records there.
