About Kendrick High SchoolKendrick High School, with an enrollment of over 1200 students, is one of seven large high schools in Columbus, Georgia. Built in 1967 and originally located in a sparsely populated suburb on the east side of the city, Kendrick was first called Eastside High. Kendrick High School has been successful in academics, music, and athletics. Beginning in 1977, Kendrick earned its first state championship in athletics; it was in baseball. Recently, it has earned a Georgia AAA State Championship in football, two Georgia AAA State Championships in boys' track, three consecutive Georgia AAA State Championships in girls' track, and numerous regional championships in every sport. Also, the chorus has consistently made superior ratings in district and national level festivals.. In fact, Kendrick's Men's Chorus is the only chorus in Columbus to have ever been invited to perform at the Georgia Music Education Association's In-service Conference. In addition, the band deserves high accolades. Historically, it has received exemplary ratings. However, in addition to high ratings, it has been invited to perform at the Rose Bowl Parade, the Cherry Blossom Parade, and numerous college football games. Furthermore, Kendrick High School has had academic successes. The school has competed in the Academic Decathlon Competition for the past nine years and has placed first or second eight of nine years. The Decathlon Team has competed in math, English, social studies, and science and has always excelled. |
