News from Ms. Owens:

MANDATORY MEETING FOR SENIORS' PARENTS

Parents of graduating seniors must meet with the principal on one of the two days given. This meeting is required by the Muscogee County School Board. We are offering two meetings: one on Saturday, May 5th at 9:00 AM and the other on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:00 PM. Both meetings will be in the KHS cafeteria. Parents must attend one of these meetings. Generally, the meeting lasts for less than an hour. However, parents must pick up a form on which they fill out the names of the people they wish to attend graduation.

The maximum number of tickets they will receive is twenty. All people who attend the graduation must have a ticket. Please do not ask for more tickets because we cannot give any more than twenty.

BACCALAUREATE CEREMONY

All seniors are welcome to participate in this ceremony. Seniors who wish to participate must come to practice in the KHS auditorium on May 25th. At that time we will give out tickets for the Baccalaureate Service which will be on Sunday, May 27th at St. Luke's Methodist Church at 3:00 PM.

Girls must wear white dresses and white shoes (no open-toed or sandals). Boys must wear black pants, black coat, black shoes, white shirt and black tie.

Clearance Day

Monday, May 29th, all seniors must prove that they have paid all their debts to KHS. This includes payment of any debts prior to an including their senior year. If you have any uniforms, you must turn them in by this date. If you are not cleared of all debts, you will not be able to go through the graduation ceremony. Remember that this includes all Herff Jones material that you ordered as well as senior dues.

Graduation Practices

On May 29th all graduating seniors will be practicing in the KHS auditorium at 8:00 AM. This is when you will get the ine0up for graduation as well as your first practice. Graduation tickets will be given out to those who participate in this practice. Only graduating seniors will be given tickets. On May 30th at 8:00 AM there will be a mandatory graduation practice at the Columbus Civic Auditorium. Be there by 7:30 AM. We only have a short period to rehearse. Be on time. If you do not rehearse, you will not participate in graduation. These rehearsals are for graduating seniors only!

Graduation 2001

Graduation will be at 4:00 PM on June 1 at the Columbus Civic Auditorium. Be at the auditorium by 2:45 PM for line-up. Any senior who is not in line for graduation a the designated time with the appropriate clothes and the appropriate attitude will not be allowed to go through the ceremony. Seniors must wear their cap and gown and black shoes. Girls will wear natural hose. Girls should wear a Sunday dress, preferably the white one they wore to Baccalaureate and it must be shorter than the gown. Boys must wear black pants, white shirt, and black tie. Any senior wishing to wear earrings must wear very small ones. Do not wear bracelets or necklaces.

Senior Dues

Senior dues are $90 only until April 30th. If you do not pay for any reason on or before that date, your dues will be increased to $100. These dues must be paid if you wish to participate in senior activities such as baccalaureate, senior luncheon, and graduation. ONLY CASH OR MONEY ORDER WILL BE ACCEPTED!

Herff Jones

On April 5th the announcements were delivered to the seniors. If you did not have the money to pay the balance at that time, you must wait until some time after the spring holidays. They will call me when they can come back. I remind you that you must pay Herff Jones in full before they will give you a cap and gown. If you still have not ordered you cap and gown, you need to call their office. Be prepared to pay a substantial late fee, Phone: 563-1346. If you have any questions regarding the announcements that you ordered, call that number.

Prom News

The prom is from 8:00 PM-12:00AM at the Columbus Iron Works and Trade Center. Senior dues must be paid before you attend the prom. Pay Ms. Sharon Lloyd in Room 231 for the prom dues and Ms. Owens in Room 303 for the senior dues.

Senior Luncheon

Seniors will meet at the bus ramp at 10:30 AM. They will be issued luncheon tickets once they are on the bus. No senior will be allowed to go directly to the luncheon! The luncheon will be at Howard Johnson's restaurant on Veterans Parkway. Only seniors who have paid their senior dues may attend. Seniors must wear their Sunday best!
