Senior Newsletter -
September, 2000
From Ms. Owens, Senior Sponsor
WELCOME BACK TO KHS!
I do hope that your summer was a happy one and that
you are ready to work very hard in your senior year. This newsletter
and the bulletin board outside of my room 303 will be two ways to
communicate to you this year. Be sure to check the calendar outside my
room for dates that the Herff Jones representative will be here. Herff
Jones Company is the one who will provide you with the cap and gown,
the announcements and memory books, etc.
HERFF JONES INFORMATION
The first day that the Herff Jones representative will
be at KHS is on October 9th. On that day they will
give you information about the cost of announcements, memory books,
mugs, and senior name cards. On October 12th and
13th, they will be here to get your deposit and your
order. If you wish to order a senior ring, you may do so at this time
as well.
SENIOR PICTURES FOR THE YEARBOOK
Ms. Rees has set the last date to take your senior
portraits for September 5th. Appointments will be made
during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. You must have an
appointment to have your picture made. Sitting fee charges will be $20
or $30. The charge depends on the number of poses you wish.
CLASS OFFICERS
If you wish to be a Senior Class officer, come by my
room (303) and pick up an application. These applications are due back
to me by Friday, September first.
The election will be next week. You will vote through
your English or social studies classes if we do not have homeroom next
week. If you do not have either English IV or World History, please
come by Room 303 after school to vote. Remember that your class
officers must be responsible young adults because they will be
conducting the senior class meetings. They will be your contact people
to notify me of concerns and questions relating to the senior class.
Please vote for responsible people for these offices.
CLASS DUES
Until October 25th, class dues are $80 (package
C). After that date they will be $90 with a late fee added
periodically. For your $80 (if you pay before Oct.25th),
you get a yearbook, senior class luncheon, baccalaureate ceremony, and
graduation ceremony. If you wish a KHS senior t-shirt and a senior
class video, the price is $120(package A) until October 25th.
The video includes homecoming scenes, Black History Program
highlights, prom, baccalaureate, and graduation. In addition, your
parents may make an appointment with Mr. John Davis to tape a message
especially for you. If you wish only the t-shirt and class dues, the
price is $95 (package B) only until October 25th.
CLASS DUES CONTINUED
Be aware that you must pay class dues before you go to
the prom. By the time of the prom, the basic class dues will probably
be about $100 which includes the late fees. BE AWARE THAT YOU MUST PAY
SENIOR DUES EVEN IF YOU DO NOT GRADUATE IN JUNE BUT IN SUMMER SCHOOL.
When you are paying Ms. Owens for you senior class
packages, put your money order or cash in an envelope which contains
this information: your name as you wish it to appear on your diploma;
your address and phone number; your height; and your t-shirt size.
Also, put whether you are buying package A, B, or C. All this
information was in the letter I sent to you in June of 2000.
