Question: What do I need to join the swim team?

Answer: What You Need:

• A physical. You may attend one of the school physicals, or get the form filled out by your own doctor.
• MCSD Athletic Permission Form signed by your parents.
• The ability to swim 50 yards (2 laps) without stopping. The more strokes you know, the better!
• Team suit, cap and your own goggles. (available online, www.allamericanswim.com)
• $90.00 to cover meet entry fees over the season ($70), plus meet snacks and the end of year team party ($20).
• YMCA high school swimming fee. (see below)

No one will be allowed to swim who has not paid the proper fees.

Question: When are tryouts?

Answer: Tryout will be on the first day of practice, October 19, 2009.

Question: What are the YMCA fees?

Answer: $55 for the season if you are a YMCA member, $75 if you are not. OPTIONAL: An extra $70 will buy you a 6-month Y membership and you can use the weight room and swim during family hours on your own. NOTE: Club swimmers for the Hurricanes or Barracudas won't need to pay any of those fees, but you won't be able to join the CHS practice sessions.

Question: Is transportation provided to swim meets?

Answer: MCSD buses are provided for all out of town swim meets.

Question: Do I have to pay for overnight swim meets?

Answer: Yes, but overnight meets are discouraged by MCSD and we have none officially scheduled this season.
