I'm looking for information about several of my family members from Independence County.  My great-grandfather, Miles Conner, and his wife and several children are buried in the Mack Chapel Cemetery in Sulphur Rock.  I have been told we may be related to the McDoniels for whom the cemetery was named.  Miles was born in 1817 and died in 1887.  Other members of my family who may be from that area are the Warricks and the Marshalls.  Does anyone have any information about any of these family names?

I am searching for someone to look up:  Hezekiah  (H. K.) Hotchkiss on the 1851 and 1852 Tax List for Independence County, Arkansas.  His son E. C. Hotchkiss is on the tax list for 1858.

I am also looking for information about Hezekiah Hotchkiss' will.  The information is in the "Hotchkiss Data" file in Independence County.  Thanks!

Hello Liz, I would like to post a query on the web site. I am interested in finding more info on William McKinney one of the early settlers of that county. He was on the 1824 tax list. Also, I'm interested in David McKinney the Clerk of Court of that time. I believe they could be brothers or David could be his father.

I am looking for information about Birtha ________ who married Hayward Burns.  She later married William Painter.  I believe Birtha Burns Painter passed away in 1984 around Cushman, Arkansas.  Maeonia Burns was married to Ira Coleman, and they divorced.

Sincerely,

Alana Singh

I am looking for information on John Edwards and Olive Jane M'Ojerus married 2 Aug 1860 Independence county Arkansas. They have a daughter Areena Edwards born about 1861 Arkansas. I think Martin D. Edwards born Indiana, found census 1860 Polk Bayou, Independence, Arkansas, might be the father of John Edwards, age 19 ..1860 census. By 1864, Olive is in Spencer County, Indiana married to Allen B. Hornback.  Does anyone have information on the M'Ojerus family? or know what happened to John Edwards?

I'm trying to track down any information on Gerald A. Plant, b. 1876
(wife Irene May, son Gerald b. 1919). In the 1930 census he lists his
occupation as owner of a "stone mill" in Batesville.

Do you have access to indexed death or cemetery records for the
1930-1960 time period? Were stone mills common in that area at that
time? Any advice on tracking down records for this family? In 1920
they were in Baxter Co, where Irene's family lived...so they came to
Batesville after 1920.

Are there any volunteers who have access to such information?

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Vince

To Whom this may concern:

I am looking for any and all information on the family of William and Mary Kay that had a daughter named Sallie Kay.  She married Edward Lonzo West there in Independence County, Arkansas.  Their children as I understand it were Lonzo (Who died as an infant), Walter Lee, Mary Caroline (My Great Grandmother), and Myrtle.  Sallie Kay "West" , her parents and infant son Lonzo were buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Independence Co., Arkansas.  I don't know anymore on the Kay side of the family.  Then there is the west and what I know there is that Edward Lonzo West's parents were Calvin Green West and Narcisis C. Thompson.  They had at least two children before Narcisis passed away.  Then later Calvin married Nacisis's younger sister Williana Martha Thompson.  They went on to have some more children together.  I was also told by my mother that she remembers my Great Grandma Mary Caroline West "Flanagan" talking about a West family reunion that used to go on in Independence Co., Arkansas.  I hope that with what I've given you you'll be able to help me connect with more of my relatives.  I really would love to know more about the Kay side of the family and welcome any and all information I can possibly get.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Liz:

How are you?  I've written before.  I was born near Batesville - 1940.  I have a short query.  Should be simple but I can't seem to find the answer.   Here it is:

Oliver William Cason (born 5 Oct 1904; died 22 Jul 1986).  Children:  Armadene Oliver Berry, William Oliver, and Nancy Dorene Cason.  Oliver was married to Elsie Page or Cage.  That is the question:  Is it Page or Cage and I guess next; who were her parents?  If it's Cage then I know who they were.  I've looked for a marriage date on the "Tales of Old".  Oliver is not listed.  These Cason's used to be our neighbors when we lived in Arkansas.

Thanks for your help.

Im looking for any information about:
John G. Newbold, he was born 1799 in Germany and came first to
Madison Co. TN (US Census 1830), then he moved to
Fayette Co.; TN (US Census 1840), then he moved to
Batesville, Independence Co., AR (US Census 1850).
It seams that he was coroner (1852 1854) in Jackson Co., AR.
Probably he owned J.G. Newbolds Market House in Batesville.
He died Abt. 1855.
John G. married Unkwon (prob. Mary Benninger) on ??? probably in Shelby Co., Tennessee. Probably he was married twice.
He had at least the following children:
-William Mitchell Newbold born Abt. 1830 1835 in Tennessee,
-Mary E. Newbold born Abt. 1840 in Tennessee and
-Unkown (female) Newbold born Abt. 1840 in Tennessee (No further information).

William Mitchell married Mary (probably a stepdaughter of Loven Howard). They had the following children:
-Mary Newbold was born Abt. 1850 or 1857 in Arkansas: U.S.A.
-Sam Newbold was born Abt. 1852 in Arkansas: U.S.A.
-James Newbold was born in 1856 in Arkansas: U.S.A.
-Susan Adelaide Newbold was born December 27th, 1857 in Newport: Arkansas: U.S.A.
-Elisabeth Newbold was born Abt. 1858 in Arkansas: U.S.A.
-Catherine Newbold was born Abt. 1859 in Arkansas: U.S.A.
William Mitchel left Arkansas Abt. 1860/ 61 without a message for 5 years, therefore his sister Mary E. became guardian of his daughter Susan Adelaide. He probably fought in the Civil War.

(Remark on his tombstone CSA). Later he moved to Florida.

Mary E. married Patrick Gallagher (born Abt. 1829 1838, Ireland died Bef. 1880). They had the following children:
-Jennie Gallagher was born Abt. 1868 in Arkansas: U.S.A.
-Ruth Gallagher was born Abt. 1871 in Arkansas: U.S.A.
Probably they had more children, who died and have been buried on Howard-Scott-Cemetery.
After her husband died she moved to Florida.

Any information will be helpful. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Greetings from Switzerland

Christian
