    Dear Class of 1982,

How did we approach 40 so quickly? I have been happily married to my best friend, Karn, for 12 years. We have two kids, Jane 9 and Peter 6. All three are darn cool people.

We still make our home in Grand Rapids, Michigan and plan to do so for at least 12 more years. I used to be a CPA, but discovered that I hated accounting so I changed careers and am now enjoying a wonderful job for a private trust company - no accounting. Karn took early retirement in December of 2001 and has no plans to return to the workforce.

We do miss many of the special friends that we have in the Northwest so we try to get out there at least twice a year. Karn and I enjoy traveling and taking adventure trips. Last year I went to South Africa, Italy, The US Virgin Islands and Antigua, West Indies for work. For fun we went to Lans Teal's wedding in Mexico with Lans, his wife Jen, Gary Ernsdorff and his wife Kaia, Jill Wood and her husband Geoff, and Tim Karr and his wife Kathy. It was more than fun! Karn and I also spent a week on a raft trip in western Alaska, which was the most amazing fly fishing trip I have ever taken. If you are interested in an affordable adventure trip and are available the week of August 13, 2002 let me know or check out the web link above. Like Lans Teal, we consider Alaska to be our paradise and have planned trips there for 2002 and 2003.

Other random thoughts...Karn has come to know many of our fellow classmates and we both look forward to seeing all of you and catching up. I am the proud uncle of Jeremy Young who will be graduating from Bainbridge High in 2002. Did anybody hear what happened to Bignold?

CLASS OF 2002 Try to plan your life beyond today, this year or even the next several years. Embark on educational and employment opportunities that allow you to experience the life you want. Avoid any obvious dead end choices, relationships, jobs, habits, etcetera that simply waste your time and stay on course to realize your goals. Although you may be commended on your "career", don't sell yourself short by simply planning on how to earn a decent income. Making a good life takes much more effort than just making a good living. Hopefully your pot of gold at the end of it all won't be measured in money, it will be the satisfaction of living your dreams and being truly happy. If this seems like bogus advice, the web site "www.slackers.com" is available so buy it and see what you can do. Good luck!

  • Suzi Anderson (McJunkin)
    Rt 1 Box 128 B
    Duffield, VA 24244

Married for almost 18 years with six kids (5 boys, 1 girl). It must run in the Mcjunkin genes. My Husband, Mark Anderson, is a pastor so we have been able to live all over the country. California, Chicago, New Hampshire, Yakima, Iowa and Now Virginia. We love it down here the history is so rich and living right in the Appalachain Mountains the culture is deep. I still ride horses weekly and do all sorts of art. Whatever sells. Sock monkeys, quilts, sweaters, signs, portraits, hats, lamp shades and I even painted a very big horse on a barn. God is alive and well in my life otherwise I wouldn't survive each day. I face mountains of laundry, piles of dishes, endless dirt on all wood floors and always keeping the house presentable for those many unexpected visitors a pastor's family has. I probably will not be out there for the reunion, though we do plan to be out there this summer just not on those dates. I pray that you may all experience Jesus first hand that you might know his peace in this hectic world.

  • Dana Anderson (Wells)
    3600 Linwood Avenue
    Royal Oak, MI 48073

I have had significant changes since I last provided you information about me. I am now married and living in Michigan.....I missed the seasons, what can I say? I married a great man, David Anderson who I met at work years ago. We finally dated and got married in the same year!

We would love to attend the reunion and see all of you but Dave has medical issues to attend to over the summer so we've got to focus on this. He's having a bone marrow transplant mid-July and we're hoping he'll be cured of his Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma he's been battling for six years. Please say your prayers if you believe.... we need every one!
    Have fun!!

  • Clemente Aquino - 1st Grade
    Clemente Aquino
    1902 Front Street
    Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814

2001 has been a year of change. I can honestly say it hasn't been my best year. Yet, I am constantly learning about myself and the people I surround myself with. I guess you call that "growing". "Are we getting old or what?" I am looking forward to both our 20th High School Reunion and a fresh start in 2002.

I have two great kids, both in their teenage years. My daughter Veronica is 15 years old and is anxious to get her drivers license. Fortunately or unfortunately, she has many "guy friends" who are more then willing to drive her to where she wants to go. I am still having a hard time with this one. My son Justyn is 13 years old and can't wait to snowboard, skateboard, mountain bike and everything else a typical 13 year old boy wants to get into. Both keep me active and young at heart.

I am a area manager for Paragon Rehab Inc. It is a large company that provides occupational, physical and speech therapy services to skilled nursing, hospitals and school districts.

Keep in touch and look forward to seeing all of you the 4th of July weekend.

    Take care and happy trails.

  • Lauri Ataide (Banks)
    25480 Boots Road
    Monterey CA 93940

What a wonderful website this is! I wanted to update my info and add a little more detail, so here goes. Since our 10 year reunion, I married my 10-year reunion date, Craig Ataide in 1994. If you have ever seen the movie, "The Family Man", that's the story of our life. Craig took over the family business, "Ataide Tire and Accessories" when his father passed away. Not his dream job, but it's a living. We have three girls- Syndey 15 (from my previous marriage), Jordan 6 and Paxton 2. Sasha, our very large dog, completes our family unit. With such an age span, they keep us very busy! I work 30 hours a week for the City of Monterey's Sports Center. I'm the "Aerobic Coordinator" which means I get paid to work out! Actually, I teach a variety of group exercise classes and manage the aerobics programs, martial arts and triathlon program for the center. I really love my job- the best thing about it is that I can bring my kids to work if I need to because there's a childcare center on-site.

Monterey is a lot like Bainbridge. It's a small town on the central coast of California. We have a beautiful house with a view of the Monterey Bay. All in all, we have a very good life. My husband is great and our children are active, happy and healthy.

I have very fond memories of Bainbridge. It's a very special place. Of course, you never realize how great something is until you don't have it anymore! That's life.

If you're in the Monterey area, be sure and give me a call! I look forward to seeing you all next summer. Take care.

    Menlo Park, CA 94025

Married to Greg Baker since '94, been blessed with two lovely childern: MacKenzie 7 and Jonathan 5.

I'm currently a stay @ home mom, and it is the toughest job and the most rewarding I've ever had. Future definately includes work and school again, but for now this is were I am needed.

We left Seattle in February 2002 for Northern California, we were all prepared to hate it. The congestion, outrageous housing prices, and it's California. A funny thing happened though when we moved, the sun was shinning and it hasn't stopped. We miss Seattle and the mountains and it will always be home, but it might be awhile before we move back.

Hobbies: running, traveling, tennis-though it has been awhile, and playing. (kids & husband)

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the 20th.

Never give up on your dreams. They really can all come true as long as you believe in them.
Life is full of stress, so make time to smell the roses.
Be a true friend. Love deeply and passionately.
Cherish all those around you. Life is shorter than you think.

In a nutshell, what single word (or phrase) best describes the past 10 years for You?
All good things come to those who wait.

    Where to begin...
I went to ITT Peterson for Computer Programming, and have been stuck in it ever since. Worked for several Recreational Parks companies. Met my first husband Dan Freeman. Enjoyed being a Band Wife. Became a mom in 92 to a beautiful daughter Brandi Alyssa, two weeks before the 10 year reunion. That's why I wasn't there.

Got divorced a couple years later. Worked for a Computer Services firm in South Center. Fell back in love with my best friend, mid-school sweetheart from Spokane, Tracy Barnes. Moved to Portland, Oregon for 2 years and became self-employed as a Systems Analyst/Programmer, working from home. (Dream #1 realized).

We moved back to the town where Tracy and I met, Chattaroy, Washington. It's about 30 miles north of Spokane. Bought 30 acres in our old school district. And as if 30 acres weren't enough, we're surrounded by 1000 acres of state land. (Dream #2 realized).

Tracy and I were married last May, on the hill in our backyard. Great old-time wedding, BBQ, house warming, all rolled into one. (Dream #3 realized).

Still working from home, also selling/distributing Mia Bella Soy Candles. Very active in Brandi's school, girl scouts, and community. Life is good!

    Blake Barrow
    22406 86th Ave. W
    Edmonds, WA 98026

Well, to the surprise of many of you , yes, I am still alive and well.

I met my wife Debbie in the fall of '85 in a history class at the UW. We were married in '88; bought our first house in '89; got my dog Bosco in 90; had our daughter, Katie, in July of 93; and our son, Quinn, in December of '96. We currently live in Edmonds.

I am currently a programmer/analyst specializing in SAP program development/analysis, and Microsoft Access application development and design. My wife is a systems analyst for AT&T wireless.

As always, I live for Skiing. My permanent Ski buddy is my daughter Katie... (she is in her second year of skiing and just rips it up). We can be found every weekend at Stevens, so if you are there, look for us. In the off season, I fish very regularly (both fly and bait) for steelhead, salmon, and trout. (ps if any of you have any connections with Sage, I am looking for a 4 or 5 weight flyrod. Get me a deal and I will take you on a float trip on the Yakima in my driftboat).

If not before, see you at our 20th!

    Family Pics

Most of you that I've been in touch with know I'm married, almost 12 years now to Gian Basili. We have two wonderful children, Alexandra almost 3 years and Benjamin 10 1/2 years. When Gian and I married we lived in Venezuela on and off for three years and eventually found ourselves in Madison, Wisconsin. He finished his PhD there while I got certified to teach elementary children. After teaching for a few years I had Alexandra and at about the same time Gian got a job offer in Florida. Although our stay in Madison was wonderful, it truly is a terrific city, we decided to check out Florida. We landed NW of Orlando in a small town called Mt. Dora. It is a very unique town on the edge of a beautiful lake.

I've been enjoying my job as full time Child Nurturant since Alex's birth. It is wonderful to have the time to spend with your own children. I love teaching and plan to return to some type of job in the educational field once our kids are in school full time.

Gian's job with Florida Audubon was good, but another opportunity came up about 9 months ago and he took it. To reduce his commute we relocated about 100 miles to the Atlantic coast just south of Saint Augustine, the oldest city in the United States. We love the beach, intercoastal waterways, fishing, boating, seafood and culture a historic town has to offer. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Florida is growing on me and my family. Although it is hot in the summertime the climate allows you to be active outdoors all year round.

I do get back to Bainbridge Island at least once a year and sometimes twice. We usually try to spend some time there during the ski season so we all can get some snow time in. If any of you are in the Saint Augustine area please look me up. I know how busy most of us are when we are traveling, but a few beers and some shrimp would be great. Eighteen years is a long time, but it sometimes feels like yesterday. Hope to hear from or see some of your faces soon. Take care, Allison Grimm Basili

  • Derek L. Bigler, MD

I've been living and working in SF for the last few years in the ER....decided to stay in the family business. Doing a lot of traveling, skiing and playing. Still single, been engaged twice now....medical school does that to you.....dating a great nurse I work with in the ER.

Hope you all are well, happy and healthy!! We'll hopefully see you at the 20th!

Derek Landon BIGLER, M.D. Age 38. Passed away suddenly Monday, February 10th at his home in San Francisco. Born September 14, 1964 in Bellevue, WA, he is survived by his father Edward (Sandy) Bigler, MD of Bend, OR, mother Carole (John) Lister of Kirkland, WA, brothers Kjel, Blake, and Chris (Terri) Bigler, James (Stephanie) and John, Jr. (Andrea) Lister, Kathryn Lister, sister Kari (John) Moscarillo and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and preceded in death by his grandparents, stepfather John, brother Jason and sister Kelly. Derek is also survived by his fiancée Kimberly Faires of San Francisco, to whom he devoted himself completely, and by the countless friends and hundreds of patients whose lives he touched. A graduate of Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge Island, WA, St. Mary's College of California, and St. George's University School of Medicine, Derek completed his residency at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA and worked as an Emergency Physician at Kaiser Hospitals in South San Francisco, Redwood City, and Hayward, St. Mary's Hospital, San Mateo County General, and Sutter Health in Clear Lake. He worked hard and devoted himself to doing good, and to living well, and he truly lived each of his years here fully. He was an avid snow and water skier, a fast driver, a storyteller, an endlessly and honestly curious mind, a great friend to many, and a trusted and unerring confidante. He dressed impeccably, lived honorably, and ate and drank beautifully. He was a big, blustery warm-hearted caricature of an urban San Franciscan, in the most classic, and very best of ways. His death came as a complete surprise, and is a testament to both the beauty of a life well lived and the impermanence of all of our well-laid plans for tomorrow. Derek devoured each day, and fully enjoyed all of the adventures and mysteries that life has to offer. Derek will be deeply missed by his extended families, Kimberly, his patients, and by his many friends here in San Francisco, in his home state of Washington, and those spread out across the globe. To live is to risk. To love is to endure. We will all miss you Derek. The family suggests that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, the SPCA, or a donation to your favorite charity in his name. Services were held Thursday, February 13, 2003, at St. Marks Lutheran Church in San Francisco. Burial private. PACIFIC INTERMENT SAN FRANCISCO (415) 431-9940 Published in print on 3/16/2003.

High everybody. Don't listen to that Sprague guy. He's not married, has no kids, and lives with me. Shortly after high school, I went to college and received my degree in electro mechanical drafting. I did nothing with that degree. Debbie Willman and I married and divorced after about 4 years. We did however have a wonderful son named Steven, now 12 years old. I have been pretty much single ever since, and bury myself in my work as a plumber. I served an apprenticeship in Seattle for about 8 years, when I finally earned my Master Plumbers License. I moved back to the Kitsap Peninsula and started my plumbing company 6 years ago called Eagle Plumbing Inc. I live in Bremerton [can't stand it] but am building in Seabeck very soon. It is great to see and be a part of this web page. It brings back good memories. Take care everyone.

BHS Class of 1982 Reunion Questionnaire

    1. Name as it appears on birth certificate:
    Roy Melendez Boholst

    2. Name as it appears on signature:
    Roy M. Boholst

    3. Birthplace:
    Quezon City, Philippines

    4. Current residence:
    Poulsbo, WA

    5. Single? Married? Divorced?
Single and plan to keep it that way. :)

    6. Pets or kids?
Neither and plan to keep it that way.

    7. How do you make a living?
Illustrative cartographer. I draw illustrative 3-D maps of the video games for Nintendo and Sony Playstation.

    8. Fantasy job / vocation:
What I’m doing now. I work at home, whether here in Washington State or my other home in Queensland, Australia, or anywhere else for that matter.

    9. What’s something people don’t know about you?
I’d have to kill you if I told you. :) I have experienced a lot of “not for public viewing” situations when I served 15 years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, whether in training or otherwise. Most of the general American public is oblivious to what really goes on in the world.

    10. Worst habit:
I don’t drink, gamble and especially don’t do drugs, but I do still smoke a few cigarettes now and then…okay a bit more frequent than that although I have cut down a lot.

    11. Favorite movie?
I have two favorites: “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Lord of the Rings.” I like the former because Hollywood is finally trying to make movies a bit more realistic and somewhat historically correct. I also like the latter, “The Lord of the Rings,” just because I’m a J.R.R. Tolkien fan and they did a great job filming it.

    12. Favorite quote from a movie:
“I love the smell of napalm in the morning… That smell, that gasoline smell… Smells like…victory.” – LTC Kilgore in “Platoon”

    13. Favorite smell:
Funny you ask that question… No it’s not really napalm, but I do like the smell of jasmine or an exquisitely prepared meal.

    14. Favorite foods:
Most Asian food except for seafood, which I realize excludes a great deal of it.

    15. Favorite song at the moment:
Quite a diverse few but definitely excludes any Country-hick garbage or Rap crap.

    16. Favorite T.V. show:
Not one in particular, although I do watch a lot of History Channel, HGTV and News.

    17. Favorite book:
“The Campaigns of Alexander the Great,” by Arrian.

    18. Favorite sport to watch:
Baseball, especially when the Mariners are kicking ass.

    19. What three people would you most like to meet, living or dead?
I would like to meet and interview: Alexander the Great of Macedonia, Caius Julius Caesar, and Napoleon Bonaparte.

    20. How many times have you been in love?
More than I will admit, but my phobia of marital involvement has influenced all my relationships. Sorry, but after seeing most of my friends get married then later divorced, I get a bit cynical.

    21. GOD: He, she imaginary?
I’m not a Bible thumper by far, but I do believe in the Christian GOD. I just don’t believe in getting involved in organized religions. I have experienced too much hypocrisy, ignorance and bigotry in so-called “people of the faith.”

    22. Have you ever seen a U.F.O.?
    As for extra-terrestial crafts? No.

    23. What do you do when you are bored?
Watch the tele, read a magazine or book, or play a game on the computer.

    24. What word or phrase do you overuse?
I tend to call a lot of people “commie-pinko-bed-wetters” when they piss me off. That’s usually when I’m stuck behind a dweeb who’s driving under the speed limit or any idiot that doesn’t have a clue. Oh, that includes most liberals, bigots, non-conformist punks and fat mini-van drivers.

    25. Biggest pet peeve?
It’s a toss up between inattentive drivers and unhygienic slobs.

    26. The best thing about 1982 was…
It’s in the past so get over it.

    27. The best thing about 2001 is…
I am still alive, perfectly healthy, and have a great job.

    28. Most unexpected bonus about pushing 40:
Time has been good to me because I still get carded for alcohol and I possess decades of life experiences.

    29. What goal would you like most to accomplish in the next 10 years?
Have a stable of expensive and exotic performance cars. Yes, I’m materialistic.

    30. What piece of advice would you like to give the BHS class of 2002?
You still don’t know shit, life has just begun, get a college education, don’t get married until you are in your 30’s, don’t have kids until you can afford the time, money, and/or you are mentally ready, don’t settle for substandard things because they are cheaper, travel the world but be careful, always seek higher edification and enlightenment, be nice and enjoy life one step at a time.

    31. In a nutshell, what single word (or phrase) best describes the past 10 years for you?
    Enlightening.

What a nice website! It's obvious a lot of hard work and dedication has gone into creating and maintaining this website. Thank you for tracking me down via my sisters. If you didn't find me, I would have found you, Thank You "Class of 1982"!

The past 20 years have been educational, exciting and fun-filled. I am married to a special man, whom I met 17 years ago in Sydney, Australia. He visited the sail loft I was sailmaking at 'Down Under', in search of sails for his cruising sloop. Little did he know, he had met his wife, whom he'd marry nine years later. The Aussies joked about two 'Yanks' traveling nearly seven thousand miles from the States to meet in a far off country.

We just sold our home in Hoodsport, WA located in the Olympic Mountains. Currently, we are building another place in Adna, WA. Our street address has not yet been issued for the property (to follow). We hope to have our home built by the end of the year.

My husband is an Electrical Contractor and I am a Mortgage Loan Officer. Our work keeps us very busy. During our spare time we enjoy crabbing and shrimping off our boat on the Hood Canal or flying our airplane down the coast on a clear day.

We don't have any children - Perhaps one day soon! However, we do have a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd, which is much like having 5 kids!

We enjoy watching videos and reading interesting magazines (gardening, nutrition or architecture) for myself and (aviation, cruising) for my husband. My hobbies include playing in the garden/landscaping or going shopping, while my husband is either flying with his buddies or surfing the internet. Weekdays dinner is usually quick and simple. However, weekends and holidays include friends, family, home brew, nice wines, good music and great food at the Buckowski House.

We may be out of town 4th of July Weekend during the 20 Year Reunion. If we are around, we'll be sure to be there! Keep in touch and take care.

  • Jenny Chissus (Devin)
    4349 West Isberg Road
    Fairbanks, AK 99709

What a great way to get everyone together, 20 years has passed by sooooo quickly! A lot has changed for me since our last reunion 10 years ago.

I was single, working in a hotel in Hawaii. On July 10, 1995 (my 31st birthday) I married one of my high school boyfriends, Paul "Sonny" Chissus, and became a mom of a 5 year old son, K.C., and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska! It was definitely a life changing day!

Since that time, I have mastered my "domestic goddess" position (right!) and have 3 wonderful children, KC (son) - will be 11 in May, Devin (son) - will be 5 in June, and Marina Joy (beautiful daughter!) - just turned 3 in March. And we are done! We are a real "stay at home" family, with KC in 5th grade homeschool, working through a curriculum I developed based on traveling around the world in 180 days. It has been a joy and a challenge, but we are trying to "get it right" before we set sail on our dream. We bought a 32 foot Westsail, and Sonny is totally remodeling the interior to accomodate our family of five. We plan to put her in the water, summer of 2002, just in time to head down for a reunion? We plan on traveling the world, mostly tropical locations, we are looking forward to warm nights, and salty air - not much of that here in Fairbanks!

As for Fairbanks living, the kids will spend hours outside playing, sleding and snowmachining (snowmobiling). We are getting into our super long days now, and bedtime is always a challenge, but the days are endless and the activity around here never slows down.

Sonny is teaching middle school in town, working on our Westsail, finishing our home, garage and studio appartment. Always so many projects! I am so lucky to have a guy that can do it all! He built a Don Hill style driftboat, and he loves to take it out for fishing around the interior of Alaska. He is always planning trips with his brother in law, Steve. (Cara Chissus's husband) They enjoy the annual dipnetting at Chitna every year - Salmon galore! YUM!

I have been busy with kids, homeschool, I have a Mary Kay business that I enjoy on a part time level, and we are very involved in our Church here in town. Sonny and KC are going through Scuba Dive certification right now, with PADI and are very excited about the open water dives, once the lakes thaw out! BRRRR!

Obviously, its been 20 years - there are a lot of stories, if you want more, please feel free to email me, I'd love to hear from you. I have kept in touch with a few of the ladies, Cathy Hamilton, Tricia Davies and Zephirine VanBeuzekom - I will email them this info - it would be great to get everyone "on the same page"!!!

Thanks you guys for putting this together, and let me know if you need any help with Reunion Stuff!

    Love to all - Jen

My sister Elizabeth turned me on to this site...what a wonderful idea! I'm working on my second career and will graduate this fall as a Diesel Technician. I've had child #4 since our last reunion- a charming 4 yr. old named Chenoa that my Daddy, Dwight , calls the Princess of the Western World. He is flying us up there in July and I would love to see as many of you as possible. My 3 other kids, Lily, Athena & Travis are 16, 14 & 13 and are such a joy! My ex- and I are getting along very well...if there are any other Jesus freaks out there please add us to your prayer list. I have been in touch with Julie Carpenter and we are able to always pick up right where we left off. I remember you guys often when I'm relating to my teenagers (especially in reference to what I DON'T want them to do!) I look forward to seeing at least some of you. Thanks you guys for creating this website.

Although I moved away from Bainbridge after high school I still get back several times a year to visit. Mom and Dad live there and it's always great to get back to the Island.

As for me, after college I began a career with Progressive Insurance in Los Angeles. I'm still with the same company although my job has changed over the years. Now I'm in a role as an analyst and consultant for seven states in the West. I lived in near the beach most of the time in L.A. and enjoyed my five years there. The highlight was meeting my wife, Francey. We got married ten years ago and moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where we lived until 1996. Then we moved to Tigard, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. We like living in the Northwest best and plan on staying here.

We have two daughters: Megan is 8 and Molly is 4. In our spare time we are swim parents, watching our girls' lessons and swim meets. If you're ever in the Portland area, look us up!

Even though I only attended Bainbridge for my senior year after my family moved to WA from NY, I still recall all the fun times back in the early 80's.....seems like an innocent time, so long ago. I have been quite busy over the past few years. I am a founding partner of a company that makes paper products for clients like Philip Morris and Liggett, among others. My company takes trees from South America and processes the wood product into rolling papers and the like. We sell tremendous amounts of paper to that old company EZ Wider, which is still in existence. We also turn these trees into wood barrels and sell them to many liquor companies like Jack Daniel's, for example. Much of our wood product is used by several states, including WA, for so-called "scratch-off" lottery tickets...big, big, business! On a personal note, I am divorced. I also was in a severe auto accident four years ago and lost a thumb and a ear lobe. Hope all is well back at Bainbridge!!

    Hello everyone,

It's great to see so many of our classmates at different events recently. Hopefully this BHS website will help us get together more frequently and contact old friendships. In all the friendships I've established, I consider our High School friends as some of the best.

After graduating from Pacific Lutheran University, I financed my flight ratings through Commercial fishing in Alaska. I spent several years as a flight Instructor flying out of the greater Bremerton/Seattle area. Two years later I began flying freight domestically out of the Detroit area. I then landed what I consider one of the most interesting flying jobs out there, flying for the Chrysler Corp, which of course is now DiemlerChrysler. I've been a Captain flying for you Aviation buffs Gulfstreams and Hawkers. We have G2s,G3's,G4s and now G5s. We travel around the world flying all types, CEO's, musicians, you name it. Most recently after I decided to get back to the Seattle area, I was hired by American Airlines and will begin school in Dallas/Fort Worth the 30th of Nov. I'll attempt to be based out of San Francisco as soon as my seniority allows, and eventually Seattle when I have enough seniority.

I am seriously involved with a wonderful woman, Erica, some of you have met her. We enjoy jogging, mountain biking, roller blading, snow and water skiing, etc., etc. I've spent the last 3 years remodeling a lakefront house with a waterski course and fishing.

It's been a very good, what 16 years since HS, with the exception of my brother Allen's death. I look forward to seeing many of you soon if not at the 20 year reunion. I would very much enjoy hearing from anyone. We'll see you all soon.

Hi, It is really interesting catching up on peoples' lives. I'm glad this Web site is up because I need some reminders before I see you all at the reunion. Please submit pictures of yourselves, it's been almost 20 years after all.

After BHS, I took a year off to ride horses and then I went to WWU and got a BS in Visual Communications in '87. I am a graphic designer at the Woodland Park Zoo and have been for lots of years.

I missed our 10-yr reunion due to a car accident and vacation plans. At that time I was married and since divorced. In May of '99 I was set up on a blind date and nine months later, we were married! We are delirously happy and all that... My husband Curt is an Internist and is a truly amazing. We live in Federal Way, play as much golf and travel as much as we can, and Curt is teaching me fly fishing which I love.

Looking forward to seeing all of you next year! --Irene

    Greetings fellow Spartans!
Currently I am living the life of a 50's housewife (minus the valium- although I have been known to have a glass of red wine on occasion). I am married to an Attorney in Seattle, have two kids ( Morgan d.o.b. 12/20/94- boy and Frances d.o.b. 8/7/96- girl), live in Wallingford, garden, bake cookies rarely, volunteer at my kids school, volunteer for a local transitional housing facility for women (Jubilee Women's Center), run and 5:30 am with Susan Mackay Robinson, and take the occasional class offered at the local community colleges. Life has been good to me. I have a great marriage, two healthy, fun kids(at least most of the time).
I met my husband, Nick, January of 1990 playing touch football- need I say more. We were married March of 1994 and I was pregnant with our son Morgan 3 weeks later. The only day I had morning sickness was the day I told Nick we were expecting. Thank goodness he was thrilled. Frances came as a surprise too- conceived the day after I ran the New York Marathon. Was that more than you wanted to know? My years of work at Planned Parenthood were quickly forgotten when it came to my life.
Before leaving the working world to raise my two kids, I spent several years in the social work/non-profit world. The last job I held was as a casemanager for Big Brothers in Kirkland, WA. I am getting ready again to enter the the job arena (good timing?)- hopefully doing something creative and flexible. Anything serious will have to wait until Fall of 2002, for Nick is taking a 3 month sabbatical starting end of June.
It looks like I will miss our 20th high school reunion. Our plan is to spend a big chunk of the summer in Italy and on the east coast (visiting Nick's family)-sounds rough I know. Anyway, I am truely sorry to miss the event. I had been looking forward to it for some time. My best to all and many blessings to you in 2002.
I would love to hear from you.

Married Michelle waaayy back in 1996, and we have a lovely 2 1/2 year old daughter named Dana. I have been working in the Human Resources & Technology recruiting biz since the early 1990's, and am currently a Program Manager at Microsoft. To help fund the beer budget in college, I had a couple stints up in Alaska on commercial fishing boats - One tour in Kenai, and one in Bristol Bay. Avid golfer these days. Kinda have to be - 2 knee surgeries later, I had to hang up the basketball shoes.

    Personal Website: http://communities.msn.com/griffinfamilypages

I appreciate being asked to post info on this site for while I'm the class of '82 and spent many years in school on Bainbridge, I didn't graduate from BHS (my brother Jay did, though). My high school years were spent at St. Michaels University School in Victoria, B.C. (same place Russ Laboda ended up).

After high school, I got an Econ degree from Whitman College and graduated from there in '86. Out of school I went to work for a telecommunications firm in Bothell and traveled around the US installing computer systems. I then got my pilot's license and went to work for the Aircraft Owner's and Pilot's Association (AOPA) in Frederick, MD while trying to figure out how to make money in aviation. No luck for me there so I packed everything I owned into my car and headed back to Seattle.

After six months of temp work (which included rolling sod on freezing cold, rainy days in the middle of December) I got an assignment at Microsoft where I was later hired on and where I remain. About 5 years ago, I figured I hadn't been tortured enough in College so I put myself (and my family) through four long years of night school to got an MBA from Seattle University.

I've been married for seven great years to Yolanda. We met at a singles retreat through our church (Overlake Christian Church in Redmond) and while there have been a few bumps, let's just say I feel pretty 'blessed.' We have two daughters, aged 3 and 11 months.

When I'm not chasing kids, I try to waterski once a week all year round. (I used to be a lot more consistent!) And yes, I wear a dry suit in winter. Yolanda and I are active in our church where I am an usher and together we are leaders in our Adult Bible Fellowship group. I also love doing yard work and other projects around our house.

Last year I applied for and was chosen to be on the Planning Advisory Board for the City of Sammamish - a citizen board tasked with preparing a comprehensive plan for the city. I'm really excited to have a roll in shaping our new city. So, if you live in Sammamish and have ideas about what our city should be like, let me know!

So that's my life. Oh that it were as simple as 6 paragraphs! It would be great to hear from any of you for whatever reason so don't hesitate to email.

  • Ruth Griffith (Woodman)

Ruth Woodman, aka Ruth Griffith, reporting in. Currently living in Bothell, married 13 years to Adam Griffith, no kids, 2 cats (Buster and Spooky). Ok, here's the rest of the questionnaire (this is fun! Thanks, Tricia!):

How do you make a living?
I'm a librarian. To those of you who remember me from high school, this probably doesn't come as a huge surprise. I work in the public library in Mill Creek, WA. You know who else lives there? Eric Goehle and his beautiful & sweet wife, Christine. I'll try to get him to email this site. Oh, I've also run into Zephirine at the Edmonds library. No warts at all. She's gorgeous and so are her two daughters.

    Fantasy job/vocation?
I think I'd like Renie Nakata's job, or maybe being Tricia Davies! :-) My ultimate dream would be something involving gardening, swimming, and making music. Dolphins would be a plus. Actually, I really like the librarian gig. I even have cat eye glasses! really.

What's something most people don't know about you?
I have an alias name to use when the cops come after me, which is Kelly Walsh. Also I have never used it.

    Worst habit?
Pulling out my white hairs. Driving through stop signs.

    Favorite movies?
Harold & Maude; American Graffiti; The Goodbye Girl; Little Women (1994 version); Funny Face (anything w/Audrey!); Raising Arizona (anything w/Nicholas!); Bedazzled (the original with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook-- death to Brendan whats-his-name!)

    Favorite quote from a movie?
"laugh while you can, monkey boy!" (only thing I remember from Buckaroo Bonzai)

    Favorite smells?
pine trees, salt water, cloves, Adam.

    Favorite foods?
    sushi, chocolate, sukiyaki, fish tacos.

    Favorite song at the moment?
songs on Garbage version 2.0-- "I think I'm paranoid"
songs on Suzanne Vega's 9 objects of Desire, esp "Honeymoon Suite"
    Sandra Bernhard's "Manic Superstar"

    Favorite TV show?
The Simpsons and Buffy ("what a juvenile")

    Favorite book?
Still has to be _A Wrinkle in Time_, by Madeleine L'Engle

Favorite sport to watch: b'ball To play: v'ball

What three people would you most like to meet, living or dead?
    Sojourner Truth; Gandhi; Jesus

How many times have you been in love?
Sorry, this question is too complicated and possibly incriminating!

    God: He? She? Imaginary?
I threw out my fundamentalist Christian beliefs in my early 20s. I now loosely adhere to the "STar Wars" religious paradigm: I figure there are the forces of good and the forces of darkness, and I try to stay on the side of the good. I believe in karma. If I have to go with any kind of belief in afterlife, reincarnation sounds pretty good. I guess I can't go with the omniscient, omnipresent god thing anymore-- s/he would have to be a real bastard!

Have you ever seen a UFO?
Sure, in the 001's! (sorry, Dewey Decimal. Remember, I'm a librarian.)

What do you do when you are bored?
Look through J Jill catalogs and don't order anything.

What word or phrase do you overuse?
"no doubt!" (perfect response to any statement!)

    Biggest pet peeve?
Why has every jar of rubber cement at work turned into a bottle of boogers?

The best thing about life in 1982 was: how every song on the radio seemed to hold some deep personal meaning. Also, I got the hell out of high school!

The best thing about life in 2001 is: the availability of information and the ease of communication. Knowledge is power; knowledge dispels fear and ignorance. Or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Most unexpected bonus about pushing 40?
Life isn't as scary as it used to be. You realize that things are transient and people are what's real.

What goal would you most like to accomplish in the next 10 years?
    Become the next Segovia.

What piece of advice would you like to give to the BHS class of 2002? (These will be forwarded to them, so make it a good one!)
    1) keep learning your whole life. Keeping an open mind will keep you young and happy and interested in life.
    2) your 20's are better than your teens; your 30's are better than your 20's.
    3) you're tougher than you think you are!

In a nutshell, what single word (or phrase) best describes the past 10 years for You?
"easy come, easy go" (money, health, sanity, etc.)

Hi Everyone!! What a great idea. Well as for me, I have been married to a great guy named Steve for eight years. I moved to San Francisco 10 years ago. I still work at Nordstrom. It's been 20 years. Can you believe it? We have no children but we do have two black labs that keep us busy. We now live in Suisun Valley which is about 15 minutes from Napa Valley. We spend a lot of our time boating on the delta. We also love to go to Mexico to a town about two hours north of Puerto Vallarta in the jungle called San Pancho. Great surfing and beautiful sunsets. Happy 2000 to everyone.

Oh my god! What a trip. Very cool to see your pictures and read about your lives. It has been so long since I have seen or talked to any of you guys.

Moved from Bainbridge to Redmond. Went with my sister, Julie Maurer,to see my brother Kevin Maurer in Tahoe for his 21st birthday (10/31/must have been 82). Stayed there for a couple of weeks and partied with "Hev Kev" and Scott Blymyer. That is a trip I shall never forget!!!

Went to cosmetology school in 85. Got married and had my first baby (Levi Michael Hartzog) in 87. Made it back to the island in about 88 to see Sandy Demick (Glass) and show off our kids. Lived in Redmond until getting a divorce in 90. Levi and I moved to Kirland. I Quit doing hair for awhile and worked in Kirkland at SpectraLux as the Human Resources Manager. Got laid off in 91 and went back packing through Mexico with a girl friend of mine for a month. AWESOME!! Shortly after returning Levi and I moved to Lynnwood.

Went back to cutting hair in Ballard for awhile. Jeff Demick even used to come in and get his hair cut (I still talk to him from time to time). In 95 I had my second baby (Tasha Kaelen Diaz). Stayed home with her for a few years and did daycare at my house to pay the bills. That started to make me crazy so in 97 I went back to work for ISSI as a Purchasing Manager (where I work now). About a week after starting work found out I was pregnant with my third baby (Meeka Rose Diaz). Could not afford to take time off from my career again since we had just bought a house in Kenmore so I did not get to stay home with her (bummer). They grow up so fast. Can not believe I have a 14 year old son (who is about 9 inches taller than me already) after all I was just a teenager yesterday wasn't I?

It seems like it was all yesterday yet it seems like it was so far away at the same time. I have some very fond memories of you people and am happy to have a connection again.

may your moccasins leave many happy tracks!

    hope to see you soon......

I'd love to attend the reunion but I'll be an ocean away when it's going on.... Someone drink a cold brewskie for me. But at least, thanks to this cool website, I feel like I've been able to catch up a bit with lots of folks.

After graduating from college I worked as a garbage collector, in a fast food place, and then got a job teaching English in the outback of Japan where I spent three and a half of the best years of my life. Took off and travelled around Asia for a while afterwards and then was a vagabond in North America for about a year until my money ran out. Worked the phones for a couple of places in Seattle so I could eat, drink, and be merry (after work anyway) but haven't been able to go near a telephone since. Finally got back into school in '94 and have been there ever since although it looks like I'll graduate with a PhD in Asian Studies this August if everything goes okay. I'm going to have to start thinking about jobs and practical stuff like that again.

Married Lim Beng Choo-- who got me through the Mandarin requirements for the PhD-- about five years ago and we moved to Singapore. Spent two of those five years in Tokyo which I like a lot. Singapore is really funky, not at all what I expected, but it's hot and humid. I long for B.I. winters with endless chilly rainy days.

No kids yet. Which is probably for the best since with parents as geeky as us, they'd get beat up on the playground regularly. I still swim four or five times a week and I'm just as bad as I used to be in high school but a lot slower.

Hi everyone! It has been so fun to read about all of you, and all the different places you are living now. A few still on the Island.

The biggest change in my life since the 10 year reunion is KIDS. Bret was born in 1992, and Marissa 1994. Walt & I married in 1991. (In case you all are wondering, my new name is pronounced like Hogue. After 10 years of being called a HOG I'm getting used to it.)

I took 6 years off of selling houses, to be a stay at home Mom. What a fun time of my life. I have been back selling homes for a couple years now.

We spend alot of time camping, fishing, playing baseball, & skating. My husband is a wonderful "family man", gives great quality time to his kids. We are trying to capture every moment, they grow up too fast.

Sad to say I lost touch with so many of you. I still exchange Christmas cards with Mark & Robin Andrews, but thats about it.

Can't wait to see all of you.

Left BHS and went to the US Naval Academy, graduated and went into the Civil Engineer Corps of the Navy. Spent about 9 years commissioned, got out because it was time. Married a woman I met while I was at the Academy, Carolyn, have three kids, Patrick (11), Jennifer (9), and Michelle (7). After I got out of the Navy I went to work for a construction company in Charlottesville, VA for about 4 years, and then started my own consulting engineer practice (compliments of the Navy I ended up with two graduate degrees and a Professional Engineer license, had to get some payback on them).

A company here in Maryland hired me away from that, so I moved up here to Middletown, about 7 miles west of Frederick MD.

To keep myself busy in my free time, such as it is, I help coach my son's wrestling and get out to the Appalacians as much as possible. Hayashi (wrestling coach at BHS, for those who don't remember) got me started in martial arts which stuck through the present. Bujinkan and Hapkido became my favorites, though I spent a lot of time with Judo while at USNA and was the head Judo instructor at a dojo for about three years. I also fell into a style called Hoshin, which Glenn Morris is the head of. My son even made it into one of his books ("Martial Arts Madness") prior to age 10.

Beyond the first couple years out of High School, I haven't had much contact with people since I left other than Lee Watson and occasionally Pat Dorsey. Lee and I kind of fell out of touch a few years ago (how many...?...don't know). Last I really saw him was at his wedding. Pat I've talked to by phone a couple times, but haven't really seen though we did discuss it a few times.

That's about it for now. The website I submitted was fully running when I was working for myself, but now I've got it set to a simple default page.

This website is great! I love reading about everyone and where life has taken them over the years. As for me, not a terribly exciting life, but I have enjoyed it so far. I'm married to Aaron he works for Fred Meyer and is currently working in Port Orchard. We live in Kingston and have 3 children, the older two are from my 1st marriage. Tim is the oldest, he's 15 (born in '86) and he's taller than me, not too surprising considering I'm only 5'4", but weird none the less to be looking up at my own child when I'm talking to him. Tim is a total sports nut but focuses mainly on soccer and snowboarding at the moment. He goes to school in CK which works out great for me since I work in Silverdle at an OB/Gyn office. I love my job, especially meeting the new babies at their Mother's post partum visit! I always offer to snuggle them while their Mommies see the Doc. Hey, it's the least I can do, right?! Katie is our middle child, she's 10 (born in '91) and is my little sweetie. She loves all those boy bands and spends most of her free time on the phone talking about boys and all the usual girl stuff! She got a guitar for Christmas, so maybe she'll put the phone down for a few minutes each day to strum a bit. Our littlest is Lindsay, she's 2 and a half and very good at it! She will be 3 in April and we're all anxious to move from the "terrible two" stage onto the next step! Actually, she's darling most of the time, but those terrible two moments have a way of making you forget how precious she can be. I'm hoping to see alot of you at the twenty year reunion. Until then, God Bless.

WOW! I just read the entire website in one sitting; so cool! I've been asking my Mom to find out about the 20 year reunion and she alerted me to the site. After high school I went across the Sound to the UW and joined a sorority with Kay Welte, Jill Jacobi, and Tamara Gibson. Needless to say I've lost track of everyone since third year of college. I saw Tamara once in Winslow a few years ago (cute kids,) and I received a great letter from Cathy Hamilton after the 10 year reunion which I rudely never responded to. I last saw Pete in 1987 just before I moved to Wisconsin. I graduated with a biology degree, which was fine for my job as a cocktail waitress at McCormick and Schmick's, but didn't help much in terms of a career. I ended up moving to Madison, Wisconsin for graduate school, a master's in Medical Genetics. I met a guy in a bar on State Street (where else do people in Wisconsin meet?) and married him two years later. Kap (his real name is Jim) grew up in a rural town that is the home of Hillshire Farms Sausage and not too far from Lambeau Field and the Packers. He thought I was "so sophisticated", being from out-of-state and all! He is a great, funny, laid-back, confident guy and, best of all, is willing to follow me around the country for my career. His life revolves around sports. He and his brothers were Mr. All American at their High School and now he plays B-ball, baseball, and golf. Totally the opposite of me, Miss uncoordinated. We moved to East Lansing, Michigan in 1989 where I worked for Michigan State University in the Department of Pediatrics as a Genetic Counselor. Kap worked at home in residential design and drafting for a Wisconsin log home company. I started a MBA program at MSU part-time while working there, thinking I would branch into hospital administration, yuk! But in 1992 I took a position with a prenatal diagnosis practice in Sacramento as a prental genetic counselor. We had a good time traveling, mountain biking, weight lifting, and skiing, but didn't really care for California. Two years later I found myself applying to Medical School. We moved back to Madison in 1995 where I started as a medical student, and the last six years have been a terrible blurr. I graduated in 1999 and stayed for residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Kap and I, after years of infertility, finally had a son. Gavin is three and a half and the joy of our lives. He and his stay-at-home Dad play sports, listen to music (everything from oldies to Sugar Ray) and remodel our condo. Gavin is totally into Schrek, and Buzz Lightyear. The other day he asked me, "Mom, what is estrogen?"...obviously a gynecologist's kid. I work 90 to 110 hours a week and am overwhelmed most of the time. We are planning on settling in the Seattle area in 2003. I'll be doing a month rotation out there May 2002 to check the place out and I will definately be at the reunion. It would be nice to have it in May, but if it is later in the summer, I'll just have to fly back. If anyone wants to email, please do.

    Married

    Pets or kids?
    1 daughter, Jennifer-4

How do you make a living?
I panhandle on Mercer Street. I use one of those cardboard signs that says: "Will work for food", which usually works. When it doesn't work, I usually pretend to be a sales and planning drone at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center.

    Fantasy job/vocation?
Are you kidding? What's better than panhandling? Not tied to a desk, set your own hours, don't have to answer to the man. At least I'm not President of Argentina. (you won't get that joke if you don't watch the news)

What's something most people don't know about you?
If I told you, then you'd know it! Where's the mystery in that?

    Worst habit?
Hmm.... I guess it's that I avoid answering questions. :)

    Favorite movie?
    Saving Private Ryan

    Favorite quote from a movie?
"What we have here, is failure to communicate"

My wife's perfume. Steak on a barbecue. Hazelnut latte

    Favorite foods?
    Prime Rib

    Favorite song at the moment?
Never had a favorite song, I like so many. Anything by Billy Joel or Frank Sinatra. Don't like much of the crap they put out these days. Now I sound like a crotchety old fart twice my age!

    Favorite TV show?
News. And cartoons with my daughter. These 2 shows are not much different really.

    Favorite book?
    Dune, by Frank Herbert

Favorite sport to watch? To play?
Still watch football. Playing with my daughter is all I do these days, but she likes to wrestle, so it's not as easy as it sounds.

What three people would you most like to meet, living or dead?
Alexander the Great, Leonardo Da Vinci, Albert Einstein

How many times have you been in love?
    Truly, only once.

    God: He? She? Imaginary?
I'm a deist. Look it up in the dictionary if you're curious.

Have you ever seen a UFO?
Well, I didn't actually see them. I woke up staring into the bright lights, strapped on a table. They telepathically interrogated me and ran a bunch of tests with sharp needles and thingies. Now I wear aluminum foil on my head, so they can't telepathically control me.

What do you do when you are bored?
It's pretty hard to bore me. In those rare moments when I am bored, I usually fall asleep. Woohoo! Still the wild man after all these years!

What word or phrase do you overuse?
"I'm going to kill you! I'm going to hunt you down and kill you!" I just used it again the other day when the guy at Starbucks got my order wrong. (that's a joke, for those of you who are slightly paranoid)

    Biggest pet peeve?
All I ask is that everyone obey my commands as if they were the word of god. Why is that so hard? Why can't the world get it right??

What piece of advice would you like to give to the BHS class of 2002? (These will be forwarded to them, so make it a good one!)
The "rock" is a very small place in a very large world, but it's as nice a place as you can find. There's something to be said for growing up in a nice, safe corner of the world. Life is what you make it, so don't give up and don't let the world get you down.

Hello from Alaska! My daughter and I just happened to be looking up info on Bainbridge Island and found you guys! The pictures are great and it has been fun to see all you guys again!

I have lived in Alaska since we graduated and I have been married to Stephen for 18 yrs. We have 6 really great kids. Sevea who is almost 16 and a junior in High School. Dawson who is almost 14 and can hardly wait to get a drivers permit :-0,and Oren 10, Seth 8, Lily 6 and Mattea 1.

I divide my time between the High school and homeschooling my middle three. We live in the middle of dogmushing country, but I am glad to say we just got rid of all our dogs and are entering into a new phase, snow machines. Much easier to care for:-),although much harder on a mothers nerves.

We have been building our house for 10 yrs and it is nearing completion. I pretty much stay busy gardening, fishing, moosehunting and berry picking during the summer and fall. Jenny Devin married my brother 6 years ago and we see each other often. I am passing the web site over to her and also my cousin Dana Wells.

Well, stay cool and keep in touch.

    Hello everyone.. :o)

I graduated from the UW in 1988, with an Economics degree. I paid my tuition with Alaskan fish dollars I earned in 1983-1986 summer seasons. Before graduation ceremonies commenced, I opted to be employed by Washington State Department of Labor and Industries in Olympia as a Research Analyst. Now, I am employed as a Forecast Analyst in the Budget Division at the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. I have served as a Federal Grand Juror Foreperson for 2 years (a 2-day commitment every other week). I volunteer for the South Sound Sailing Society SSSSClub.com, the ExcellenceFoundation.org, the Olympia Sail and Power Squadron, and the GOATz (Greater Olympia Adventure Team). My passion is sailboat racing. I race most of the year on the Puget Sound. This year I am crewing on a J80 and a Santa Cruz 50. The GOATz team races in the Oregon Hood to Coast Running Race annually, it's a blast! (www.hoodtocoast.com). I use to fly fish often. I laugh at my golf skills. Halloween rocks in my neighborhood. We attract 800 trick-or-treaters banking on the candy-lode. Adults and kids appreciate our nocturnal artwork displayed upon 100 pumpkins. My family is well. My a.k.a. is Auntie-Judi; my brother has twin 7½ year-old girls. My sister and I often race sailboats together in Seattle. I am not married; I have no kids. My parents are healthy and reside on the island. I have enjoyed your messages posted on the alumni board. I am looking forward to seeing some of you next summer or sometime soon. Cheers!

Don't be afraid to passionately commit to something - almost anything - and pour your heart and soul into it. You may find it doesn't reward you the way you were hoping, and maybe it turns out to be the wrong thing -- but you will still have a long life in front of you and you can change your focus to something else. The biggest mistake is drifting through life being afraid to commit.

In a nutshell, what single word (or phrase) best describes the past 10 years for You?
    A Voyage of Discovery!!
