Genesis Advanced Military Commander - Latest Patch File

Most of the mail I have received has asked me
how to apply the patch to the original Genesis AMC ROM. So rather than answer
everyone's mail, I will simply explain here and include the utilities that you
need so you don't have to go looking all over the web for them.
Converting to BIN format
OK, first you need to make sure that your
unpatched ROM is in .BIN format instead of .SMD format. The SMD format is
interleaved and if you apply the patch to it you will end up with a corrupted
and useless file. The places I have seen the Advanced Military Commander ROM on
the web, it has been in SMD format.
GROM is a DOS based
utility that converts SMD format files to BIN format. To use it simply start up
a DOS window and enter something like: "GROM milcomm.smd -bin" depending on what
your filename is. This will create a "milcomm.bin" file that you can apply my
patch to.
Patching the File
IPSWin2.0 is a
windows based utility that applies IPS patches to files. Just run it and fill in
the text boxes with the file to be patched and the patch. After this finishes,
then your "milcomm.bin" file should be playable with any Genesis emulator, and
have the game's text changed to English. Hooray!
