Betty Gay's biography:
We got our first Golden Retrievers shortly after our marriage because my husband wanted an all-purpose hunting dog. With that background which included some field certificate work and obedience, we had an agreement that would include good quality for the show ring as well. I have been an AKC approved judge of the Golden Retriever since 1979 and have had the honor of judging many specialties in the US and Canada as well as doing the breed at the AKC Centennial show.
Many good Goldens are never seen in the show ring and I believe that quality multi-purpose dogs should have the opportunity to gain recognition for both their adherence to the Standard as well as for their abilities. I have served on the CCA committee and feel this program is another step forward for the Golden Retriever Club of America.
