Other Builders of the Graupner SchnellbootKits

1/25 scale model     Below are other models of Zobel class boats.   Keep in mind that the following comment is not criticism of the builder, but of the manufacturer, who neglected to detail the model well enough.

     The first photograph (upper left) is scratch built at 1:25 scale.  However, when looking at the other four photos, there is a big difference in not only the colors, but what item is painted what color.  Some added a few additional items (details) but no one has added enough, especially the items that are on all of the boats in this class.   For instance, every builder of the Graupner kit (that I have seen) has solid rail over the transom.  None of the real boats had this!  They had a cable running across and netting hung from that.

    Ironically, all of these modelers have posed the aft gun facing aft.  Very few photos of the original Zobel boats had their aft guns stored in this position.
     So, enjoy the model as built directly from the manufacturer's instructions, or built the model as accurate as you can get it.  It is a lot of work investigating and scratch building parts to make it right.
