August 31, September 1, 2008.  (U.S.S. Fort Henry maximum effort event.)  (Note: Sunday - Monday event.)  Pioneer Florida Museum and Village.  Battle of Dade City (near Tampa).  Pioneer Day Festival.  No battle on Saturday.  Battles on 3pm Sunday and 2:30pm Monday.    Limited authentic and modern camping.  For Artillery Registration, contact Scott Anderson at suttler7@knology.net   To get to the event:  From the North of Dade City take I-75 South to exit 61 go East on US-98 to 301.  Go South on US-301 for 6 miles and the park will be on the left side.  St. Petersburg area take I-275 and connect with I-75 to exit 59 go East on SR-52 for 8 miles to US-301 North go through town and the park is on the right.  Contact:  Pioneer Florida Museum and Village at curator@pioneerfloridamuseum.org

September 20, (Saturday), 2008.  Blue and Grey Cotillion (Saturday 8pm to 11pm).  Pinellas Park Civic Auditorium located at 7690 59th Street North, Pinellas Park, Fl., 33781.  Period correct dress requested but not required.  8:00 PM - l 11:00pm at the Pinellas Park Civic Auditorium, 7690 59th Street.  The 97th Pennsylvania String Band to provide music.  Admission is $15.00 per person or $25.00 per couple at the door.  No advance ticket sales.  For information, email RADM11@msn.com  or check out their website at http://www.97thpvicoa.us   Driving directions: From central Florida take I-4 West to I-275 South.  Get off 275 at exit 28 (Gandy Blvd. old exit #15).  The exit ramp will go left and curve around keep going straight to the Hwy. 19 exit.  Go straight across 19 and you will be on Park Blvd (S.R. 694).  Go straight west and at the railroad tracks make a quick right.  The auditorium is off the road next to the Police Station on 59th St. North.

October 4, 5, 2008.  (U.S.S. Fort Henry maximum effort event.) Hillsborough River Raid at Veteran's Memorial Park (Tampa).   The original battle took place at Ballast Point, Tampa.  Sponsored by the Hillsborough County Parks, and Hosted by the USS Fort Henry.  No fee for reenactors.  Reenactors can stay overnight in period tents.  Battles with amphibious landings (like the original battle) by Federal troops will take place at 1:30PM Saturday and Sunday.  As the original battle was a US Navy raid against the CS Home Guard and several CS boatmen were involved, we encourage US and CS Navy reenactors to participate as well as army/home guard reenactors.  Free Saturday evening meal for reenactors.  No mounted troops.  Small Sutlers fee (payable to "Friends of the Park Inc."-contact Jesse).  Artillery is limited, contact Lew for registration.  Directions: Off US-301, about one mile south of the Florida State Fairgrounds.  Contact Jesse Marshal at floridawar@msn.com  or Lew Zerfas at gunboat@ussforthenry.com

November 7, 8, 9, 2008.  24th Annual Ocklawaha River Raid.  Near Silver Springs/Ocala.  The event will take place at the Marion County 4-H Farm located on Highway 35, just south of the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 464, in Ocala.  Powder rations will be provided to the first eight cannons pre-registered by October 25.  Two battles. Saturday night ball.  DIRECTIONS:  From I-75 north, take Exit # 341 (the Belleview - Dunnellon exit) to Highway 484.  Go east on Highway 484 for eight miles, to the traffic light intersection of Highway 484 and U.S. Highway 27/301/441.  Go across 27/301/441 and continue east for four blocks to the traffic light intersection of Highway 484 and Highway 35.  Turn left and go north on Highway 35 for aprox. five miles; the site entrance is on the right.  Information: Lt. November 22, 23, 2008.  Living History.  Jacksonville, FL.  The Invasions of Jacksonville.  Historical interpretation of the invasions, defense and occupation of Jacksonville, Mayport Mills and St. Johns Bluff 1862 - 1865.  Military, medical and civilian impressions are needed.  Artillery and infantry drill and firing demonstrations.  Meals for registered reenactors and living historians.  Powder provided by N.P.S.  Period camping at visitor center and at the fort.  Limited modern camping.  For more information, contact U.S. and C.S. December 5, 6, 7, 2008.  The 8th annual Raid on Fort Pierce (east coast of Florida).  Savanna County Park, 1400 East Midway Road in Fort Pierce.  Reenactors help is needed at school day, Friday Dec. 5th.  Battles on Saturday at 2pm. and Sunday at 1pm.  Sutlers by invitation only.  Sutlers contact Anita Smith at civilwargal@cs.com  For more info. contact Lou Rausch at greyrider1863@aol.com or Bob Burdge at commish33@aol.com  Directions:  I-95 to exit 126 (old exit 64) This is Midway Road (SR 712).  Go east approximately 5.5 miles to Savanna County Park (the park will be on the left).  If traveling from the west coast, you can take SR 60 (or 70) to I-95 go south, to exit #126 which is State Road 712 or Midway Road.  Go east aprox. 5.5 miles to the park.

January 9, 10, 11, 2009.  3rd Annual Battle of Gopher Ridge at Roberts Ranch in Immokalee, FL.  Held in conjunction with Vaquero/Cattlemen's Days.  School day on Friday.  A parade/cattle drive through Immokalee is scheduled for Saturday morning.  Battles Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  Dinner will be provided Saturday night.  For information, contact Lou Stickles (event organizer and museum liaison) at drmajstckl@aol.com or Fred Parks at fjparks@bellsouth.net

 

January 16, 17, 18, 2009.  (U.S.S. Fort Henry maximum effort event.)  The 145th anniversary of the Brooksville Raid, Brooksville, Florida.  Help is needed for the school day on Friday the 16th (over 1,200 students attended last year).  The event will supply tent and sleeping hay to the infantrymen.  Two battles (2:30pm).  Blue/Gray Ball Sat night at 8:00pm, church Sun. morning.  A $2.00 donation to the event will be required for all reenactors and adult family members participating in the Brooksville Raid.   All reenactors will receive a raffle ticket upon registering for a $100.00 gift certificate (five to be given away) to be used at any of the sutlers in Sutlers Row during the event.  Artillery bounty will be one bounty per unit ($100) will be given to the first twenty pre-registered cannons only.  The Raid is held at the Sand Hill Boy Scout Camp on US Hwy 50.  The battle is 10 miles West of Brooksville.  The entrance is on Hwy 50.  Take Hwy. 50 West.  Go through Brooksville, keep going West about 10 miles, and look for the signs.  More information at NEW WEBSITE ADDRESS http://www.brooksvillereenactment.com/

January 30, 31, February 1, 2009.  Battle at Townsend's Plantation (Renningers Market at Mt. Dora).  No reenactor participation fee.  Spectator fee $5 adults and $2 children.  Living history exhibits, folk music, weaponry demonstrations, authentic camps, ladies tea, Sun. church service, and sutlers.  School day on Friday Feb. 1st.  Dress ball Saturday at 8pm.  Bounty paid for artillery and cavalry.  Battle 3pm Saturday and 2pm Sunday.  This event is North of Orlando on Hwy 441 just a couple of miles from Mt. February 13, 14, 15, 2009.  Civil War Heritage Days.  Key West Florida.  The event features a parade down the world famous Duval Street to Fort Taylor, artillery and infantry demonstrations, period crafts, a land/sea battle, and a period ball.  New on this year's schedule; a court trial of a captured blockade runner and a skirmish on the beach.  Primitive tent and dry RV camping is available.  Directions, Take US 1 south to mile marker 0 and turn left on Southard Street.  Turn Left and follow the signs to Ft. February 19, 20, 21, 22, 2009.  (U.S.S. Fort Henry maximum effort event.)  Fort De Soto Park American Civil War Weekend. On Friday, February 20, 2009, the camps will be open for school day.  Battle re-enactment each afternoon at 1:30 pm.  Activities include period sutlers and vendors, a mock military trial and execution, artillery demonstrations, infantry drills, drum and fife music performances and civil war medical demonstrations. FREE firewood, hay for sleeping, and ice.  $50 cash bounty for the first 6 pre-registered artillery units (3 Union, 3 Confederate). March 7, 8, 2009.  143nd Anniversary of the Battle of Natural Bridge- Woodville. Fla. (Near Tallahassee).  Battles both days/ very relaxed event. The battle begins 2:30 p.m. no fees. Potluck dinner for reenactors on Saturday night; Dance to follow.  Sutlers and artillery by invitation only. March 27, 28, 29, 2009.  The16th annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill.  St. Cloud Fla. southeast of Orlando by Kissimmee.  The Battlefield is on 150 acres of open and wooded land on the shore of  East Lake Tohopekaliga.  Friday, the 27th, is education day which begins at 9:00am; re-enactors are needed to provide demonstrations.  Take Hwy 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy) to Hwy 15.  Go 2mi North on Hwy 15, look for the park sign.  Another way to get there (from the North) is to take I-4 to the toll road 528 (Beachline Expressway) go east and get off on Hwy 15 exit (Narcoossee Road) go South on Hwy 15.  Contact the SCV Camp at http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/   or Chris Hall at chgalenhall@aol.com   for more information, pre-registration at http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/ed2007.pdf  

April 11, 12, 2009.  Parrish Train Raid.  From south Fla. take I-75 north to Ellenton like you are going to Gamble Plantation. Instead of turning to the west, turn east on Hwy 301 to the town of Parrish.  From Lakeland, go south on Highway 37 (It dead ends in to Highway 62).  Turn west or right on Highway 62 toward Parrish.  When you hit Highway 301, turn right and immediately right into the Post Office.  The train stop is right behind the Post Office.  From Orlando, come Highway 17 south to just south of Bowling Green.  Turn west on Highway 62 and take it all the way to 301. May 2, 3, 2009.  Annual Federal Garrison at Ft. Clinch State Park.  Barracks accommodation provided, meals and the opportunities for first person interpretation of the Civil War (Federal) in exchange for a participants fee of $12.00 and agreement to help tell the story of Ft. Clinch and garrison duty in 1864.  Period correct camps can be set up right outside the fort.  There is an area for modern camping but it is best to make advance reservations for a spot.  There will be plenty of "off duty" time to go to town and enjoy some “civilian” entertainment.  For more information, contact F. May 16, 2009 (Sat). Civil War Days skirmish at Heritage Village in Largo Fla. (U.S.S. Fort Henry maximum effort - hosting unit.) This event allows the spectator to see various aspects of the Civil War era. Spectators will be encouraged to participate in various "hands on" activities focused on both military and civilian life. Sutlers, food and beverage vendors will be on site. The event hosts ask that the reenactors be very pro-active in informing the spectators about uniforms and gear, their units, feelings about the war, etc. ARMS: No pre-loaded weapons to be brought on site. Pistols to be inspected unloaded by the safety officer and tagged. All weapon firing is to be coordinated through the event hosts. Artillery powder subsidy to the first two Union and first two Confederate pre-registered field guns (contact Lew Zerfas). Event opens 9 A.M. Skirmish (new battle plan) at 2:30 P.M. Reenactor/sutler/vendor registration: Gate No. 2 open for registration and setup 7:00-8:30 AM (event opens to public at 9:00).
