Swing Toujours is an acoustic swing ensemble founded in 1999 by Rick Jobe and Jim Wood. With the ambience of a chamber ensemble and the energy of a big band, this group brings together the best of both worlds.

The unique blend of Rick's clarinet and Jim's viola let you know right away that this is no average swing band! Three of the players are vocalistis including Rick, Inge Wood and the newest addition to the band, Mike Duncan also playing lead guitar. Inge Wood adds an international element as her Costa Rican heritage accentuates her ability to pump out rhythm guitar a la Freddie Green! Holding down the bottom with the big ole' bass fiddle is Avent Lane or Joe Manning (aka Big Joe Bass).

Jim Wood's original compositions (assistance by Rick and Mike) and witty arrangements of classic swing standards are reminiscent of the great Stephane Grappelli/Django Rheinhardt collaborations of the 1930s and 40s, but with a contemporary zing that only Swing Toujours can bring!

Make Swing Toujours your choice for your next garden party, wedding reception or concert appearance! Contact Rick Jobe at 256/539-1489 or at www.rickjobe.com

Jim Wood: Nashville's Fiddle Master

Jim Wood was born and raised in the Nashville area and began playing music literally on his daddy's knee. Growing up with the icons of Appalachian fiddle, combined with a viola scholarship to Bellmont College, has presented Jim with a unique opportunity to become one of the country's most versatile violin/violists.

Jim has the honor of being the only person to win the Tennessee State Fiddle Championship four times and has performed on countless recording sessions with major country artists. As a producer and studio owner Jim has proved that he has an overview and grasp of musical creation that few have achieved.

He is also very proud to be the educator of many aspiring violinists and fiddlers and to have recorded and archived national treasures in the form of fiddle tunes.

Jim's current positions include leadership of  the Terra Nova ensemble (Americana and Fiddle Music), Creative Director of Whippoorwill Records, Creative Director of his heart throb, Swing Toujours.
