Frontals, lavabo towels, burses, purificators, corporals, and oh, my! The Altar Guild members keep track of all these—and much more. A lot goes on before and after each service, most of which is done quietly and without fanfare, but very carefully and lovingly. There are bread and wine and water to prepare, linens to be washed and ironed, and the hangings in the sanctuary must be of the proper color. On some days the color could change between services!

A member of St. Luke’s Altar guild is a person who finds "devotion in the details,"
someone who cares enough to give God the very best. This is, indeed, an organization
of people whose motto might be, "If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right!"
