In March, Dave found out the army was cutting orders for his unit to deploy to Germany, and unless he and Karen were married when the orders were created, she wouldn't be able to travel with him in August. Abba did the honors in their living room on March 21, 1986. So, we were married, in the eyes of God, the state of Texas, and the U.S. Army, ...but the wedding wouldn't take place until July!
